This was the early days of the IPL, when 140 was a competitive score. Rahul Dravid starred with the bat for RCB after their top-order collapsed within 5 overs for 17/3. Dravid rolled down his years with a gritty half-century that involved eight boundaries and a six. He carried his bat until the final over despite wickets tumbling at the other end.

Spin wizard Anil Kumble's excellent spell of 5/5 humbly surrendered the Royals to a mere 58, and pushed the inaugural champions to the then-lowest score in the IPL.

The self-proclaimed 'Universe Boss' hammered 17 sixes and 13 fours and ended up with a staggering strike-rate of 265.15, capitulating the Royal Challengers to the highest total in T20 history. He spared no bowler barring Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who escaped the wrath by conceding just 23 runs off his 4 overs.

The defunct Pune-based franchise failed to match Gayle's score, let alone the target as they only managed 133 in their regular quota of 20 overs.

A custodian of numerous T20 records, Gayle added a few more with his 14th T20 century as he became the first foreigner and the fastest to cross the 3,000 run mark in the IPL.

Punjab sleepwalked through the chase, losing half their side inside the powerplay, and were bundled out for 88.
