Uthappa has always been in the mix among contenders for the orange cap. His best IPL till date has to be the 2014 season wherein he amassed 660 runs in just 15 games at an average of 47 for the Kolkata Knight Riders

In the 2014 IPL season, Uthappa also created a record of posting 40-plus scores in 10 consecutive matches.

Thus far, Uthappa has scored 4129 runs in 165 games at an average of 28.67 and a strike rate of 131.70 in the IPL.

#4 Gautam Gambhir- 4217 runs

Gautam Gambhir will not be able to add to his tally of 4217 runs as he found no takers in the 2019 auctions. He also subsequently announced his retirement from all forms of the game.

Gambhir can be regarded as one of the best Indian T20 batsmen along with Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh. The left-handed opener's exploits in the inaugural edition of the T20 world cup helped India win the title.

In his IPL career, Gambhir has led KKR to 2 titles. His best season has to 2012 wherein he scored 590 runs in 17 games to finish as his team's highest run-getter.

Gambhir's IPL stats are impressive as he has aggregated 4217 runs from 154 games at an average of 31 and a decent strike rate of 123.88.

Rohit Sharma was always regarded as a great talent ever since his debut for India but in his early days, he used to frustrate the team management and the fans alike by giving poor returns despite been given many chances.

But captaincy in the IPL changed all that. Since taking over as the captain of the Mumbai Indians in 2013, Rohit has led them to a record 3 IPL titles. He has also led from the front by scoring consistently with the bat.

Rohit has had a consistent IPL career so far, but he has not been his best in the last two seasons. His best IPL season has to be 2013 wherein he scored 540 runs at an average of 39.

In his IPL career, Rohit has scored 4493 runs in 173 games at an average of 31.86 and a strike-rate of 131.02.

But the one thing that has eluded him is the IPL trophy. Since he took over the captaincy of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kohli has not been able to inspire his team to the IPL title in spite of having a potent top-order including his own remarkable batting prowess.

Kohli's best season by far has to be 2016 wherein he scored a mindboggling 973 runs at an average of over 80 and a marvelous strike rate of 150.

In his IPL career, Kohli has scored 4948 runs at an average of 38.35 and strike-rate of 130.76 in 163 matches.

#1 Suresh Raina - 4985 runs

Suresh Raina is arguably the greatest batsman to have played in the IPL. Hence, it should not come as a surprise that he is the highest run-getter in the league's history.

He has been the most consistent performer and has scored more than 400 runs in every season but two. Raina is one of the main reasons behind Chennai Super Kings' dominance in the tournament.

Raina's best season till now has to be the 2013 edition wherein he scored 548 runs at an average of 42. His overall IPL stats are quite stunning he has amassed 4985 runs from 176 matches at an average of 34.37 and strike-rate of 138.43.
