Messi in World Cup

Lionel Messi has almost won everything the sport of football has to offer. He has won the Ballon d’Or on 7 different occasions, making him the player with the most Ballon d'Or in Football history. Messi has been dominating at the club level with Barcelona for a long time now. He has won the La Liga 10 times, the Copa del Rey 7 times, and the UEFA Champions League 4 times with Barcelona.

Messi also won the Ligue 1 in his first year at PSG, but the biggest feather in his cap is probably Argentina winning the 2021 Copa America trophy. After years of heartbreak Messi finally managed to land his hands on the much desired Copa America trophy. The only thing that Messi is yet to win is the FIFA World Cup trophy. The Argentine came excruciatingly close to achieving this feat in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Argentina was handed a 1-0 loss by Germany in the 2014 World Cup final as Mario Gotze scored a 113’ winner in extra time. The FIFA World Cup is the only trophy that has eluded Messi all these years but Messi will be looking to go all the way with Argentina this year and win the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
