Racing History

The United States Grand Prix held its first race in its latest avatar in 2012. The track was still slippery which caused cars lots of issues when it came to building the tires up to temperature. The race would see plenty of action as the cars would struggle with a lack of grip throughout the race. The battle for the lead was won by Lewis Hamilton as he was able to overtake Sebastian Vettel after the first round of pitstops.

2013 saw Sebastian Vettel dominate the weekend and win the race easily. In the 2014 season, Lewis Hamilton overtakes Nico Rosberg to win the race. The 2015 season showed that Austin Texas was starting to become a favorite hunting ground for Lewis Hamilton as he won the race yet again. Lewis would repeat the feat yet again in 2016 and 2017 as he would both the races comfortably. The 2018 race would see Lewis Hamilton lose out to Finn Kimi Raikkonen while the 2019 race would see Hamilton losing out to Valterri Bottas, his teammate.

Lewis Hamilton has been the most successful driver on this track with as many as 5 victories to his name while Mercedes has been the most successful team with 5 wins to their name as well.

The race in 2020 was canceled because of the Covid-19 pandemic but the race would be back again on the calendar in 2021 with the race expected to be held on 24 October 2021.
