Denny McCarthy

Denny McCarthy was born in Maryland's Takoma Park. From age ten, he participated in competitive junior golf and greatly succeeded on the MAPGA junior tour. He was a varsity player for Georgetown Preparatory School's basketball and golf teams. At the University of Virginia, where he played collegiate golf, he was twice named an All-American.

Along with Ollie Schniederjans, Justin Thomas, and Jordan Spieth, McCarthy participated in the 2010 Junior Ryder Cup.

Along with Beau Hossler and Bryson DeChambeau, McCarthy led the United States to victory in the 2014 World Amateur Team Championship (Eisenhower Trophy) while he was a senior at UVA. Being the only American to shoot in the 60s on all four days, he finished with an 8-under 64. He placed fifth overall in the competition.

He was chosen to compete for the United States in the Walker Cup in 2015 when he teamed up with Beau Hossler, a former Eisenhower Trophy teammate. Thanks to his Eisenhower Trophy-winning clutch effort and 2015 Porter Cup victory, he got on the squad.

McCarthy won thrice in the Maryland Open (2010, 2013, and 2015) and twice in the Maryland Amateur (2013, 2014). McCarthy's US Open 2015 result matched him for 42nd place.

Denny McCarthy’s Driver

Given that McCarthy owns many clubs from various companies, it is uncertain if he is currently under any equipment contracts. He begins with a Callaway Rogue ST Triple Diamond driver, though its loft has not yet been confirmed. His previous setup was a Ping G425 LST model, so this is a very recent update.

Denny McCarthy’s Fairways

Up Next, McCarthy is known to carry a TaylorMade Stealth Plus fairway club with a loft of about 15 degrees, and he utilises one. It is not known if he chose a different model or a hybrid.

Denny McCarthy’s Irons

It is not known the exact iron configuration, but McCarthy stocks the most recent Titleist T200 and T100 models. Because the irons are more forgiving and the T100s will be in the shorter ones for control and workability, we may presume he has the T200 at the top of the bag.

Denny McCarthy’s Wedges

McCarthy wears a pair of Titleist Vokey SM8s. The SM8 wedges outperformed the SM7 regarding direction and distance consistency while maintaining the reliable feel, adaptability, and aggressive spin control expected from Vokey wedges.

Denny McCarthy’s Putter

McCarthy's putting is one of his best skills, and he has been employing the same model for many years. McCarthy has persisted with a GoLo mallet model that he began using while attending the University of Virginia.

Denny McCarthy’s Golf Ball

McCarthy plays with a Titleist Pro V1 golf ball and is an excellent all-rounder.
