Matthew Thomas Fitzpatrick, popularly known as Matt Fitzpatrick, is a professional golfer from England who currently plays on the European Tour and PGA Tour. His golf journey started when he was 9. He participated in several school golf events during his days at Tapton School.

Matt won at the Boys Amateur Championship in 2012 and U.S. Amateur in 2013. While attending Northwestern University, he played with his college golf team, Northwestern Wildcats.

After becoming professional in 2014, he secured a total of ten professional wins, including two on the PGA Tour and nine on the European Tour. Besides this, Matt has also competed in the Asian Tour and Challenge Tour.

His best results in major tournaments include his win in the U.S. Open (2022), T7 in the 2016 Masters Tournament, T5 in the 2022 PGA Championship and T20 in the 2019 Open Championship. In April 2023, he reached his highest ranking of 6 in the Official World Golf Ranking, and a year later, in April 2024, he had an OWGR of No. 10.

Matt Fitzpatrick possesses different golf equipment like woods, drivers, putters, balls, and irons of different brands, but he mainly prefers Titleist and Ping.

Matt Fitzpatrick’s Driver

Matt Fitzpatrick uses a Titleist driver (model: TSi3) with a loft angle of 9 degrees and an A1 SureFit setting. The shaft equipped with it is a Mitsubishi Chemical Tensei AV Raw Orange 65 TX shaft, weighs around 65 grams, and has a TX flex (Tour X-Stiff). This drive features adjustability, smoothness, power and good workability. Besides this, it provides better control over the greens.

Matt Fitzpatrick’s Fairways

Fitzpatrick uses a wood named Ping G430 Max with loft angle of 15 degrees equipped with Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Blue 75 TX shaft, which weighs around 75 grams. This combination offers forgiveness, better adjustability, fine launch, versatility and fast ball speed.

Fitzpatrick's other wood is Ping G410 with a loft angle of 20.5 at 19 degrees and equipped with a Graphite Design Tour AS DI 8 X (Black) shaft, weighing around 80 grams, which offers low torque, stability, and better control. This wood generally provides a good distance with a mid-launch trajectory, forgiveness and optimized performance.

Matt Fitzpatrick’s Irons

Matt Fitzpatrick uses Ping i210 (4) irons with loft angles at 15 degrees and a set makeup of 4,5,6,7,8,9, PW. It is combined with Ping CFS X shafts, weighing around 115 grams. This iron feels better than the i200, and it also offers more life, consistency, a classic look and a better experience.

The other iron of Matt Fitzpatrick is a Ping S55 iron with a loft angle of 21 degrees to 46 degrees and the set includes 5-PW irons. The weight of this iron ranges between 94 grams to 114 grams, with an offset from 0.17" to 0.03". This iron provides precise shots, constant feel, forgiveness, and reduced twists.

Matt Fitzpatrick’s Wedge

Fitzpatrick has three pairs of wedges in his collection, two of which are the wildly popular Titleist Vokey SM9. He carries three Titleist Vokey wedges, the 52 and 56 degree types being SM9 variants.

A 60-degree Titleist Vokey WedgeWorks prototype is his highest-ranking club in his bag. The Progressive Center of Gravity (CG) design, which the SM9 boasts of developing to increase distance and trajectory control, is a game-changer, but the SM9 is more of an evolution than a revolution over the SM8.

During testing, Golf Monthly discovered that the SM9 was very simple to square up on full strokes and consistently produced outstanding spin and flight from closer to the green, making it one of the best wedges for chipping as well.

Matt Fitzpatrick’s Putter

Fitzpatrick has a Bettinardi DASS BB1 Fitz putter, specially designed for him, with a loft angle of 3 degrees and weighing around 355 grams. This high-quality premium putter has a Tour Blast finish around the topline and the neck. This putter offers a smooth roll on the ball, a solid feel and impressive performance.

Matt Fitzpatrick’s Ball

Fitzpatrick is just one of several tour pros who play with the legendary Titleist Pro V1x, which is among the best balls available. This ball is a great all-arounder that scored five stars in Golf Monthly's review. They were especially pleased with the longer ball flight, which didn't compromise feel or control in the short game.

Matt Fitzpatrick’s Apparel

Fitzpatrick has recently seen significant changes in the apparel and shoe areas. After wearing Under Armour in the past, he was last seen wearing Castore clothing in 2022, but it looks like this has changed once more.

He was dressed in Greyson apparel during the Sentry Tournament of Champions, but we're not sure if this is an official collaboration just yet. Fitzpatrick then wears golf shoes made by Skechers.

His preferred model was the Skechers Pro 5 Hyper Spiked Golf Shoe, which has cutting-edge patented technology to give the legendary comfort of Skechers. However, we have recently seen him wearing the Skechers Go Golf Blade shoe, which, if it is being worn on tour, must be among the top Skechers golf shoes.
