U.S. Open Championship

The United States Open Championship, also referred to as the U.S. Open, is the country's yearly open golf championship. It is officially scheduled on the PGA Tour and the European Tour schedules, and it is the third of the four major golf tournaments for men.

The winner is the player with the fewest strokes overall. The competition has been 72 holes of stroke play (4 rounds on an 18-hole course) since 1898. However, it was played in the match-play format for the initial three years, that is, from 1895.

The majority of winners of the title since 1911 have been American golfers. From 2004 to 2007, there was a run of four straight non-American winners—a first since 1910. In the eleven tournaments from 2004 to 2014, only three American players emerged victorious, with Graeme McDowell of Northern Ireland becoming the first European winner since Tony Jacklin of England in 1970.

Who won the U.S. Open Championship in 2024?

The winner of the U.S. Open 2024 will be updated with the conclusion of the event on June 16, 2024.

Who won the U.S. Open Championship in 2023?

The 2023 US Open was won by Wyndham Clark, who, after missing the cut in his previous two U.S. Opens and having never finished higher than 75th in a major championship, shot a final-round 70 to finish at 10-under-par for the tournament and defeat four-time major champion Rory McIlroy by one shot to win his first-ever U.S. Open and major championship.

In the opening round, Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffele shot 62 (−8), breaking the U.S. Open score record. At the beginning of the last round, Fowler and Clark were tied for the lead; Schauffele finished in 10th place. Fowler ultimately tied for fifth place.
