We have all seen the DeSean Jackson drama from beginning to end. Everyone could feel the tension rising in Philadelphia. Jackson was going to be released from the Eagles, but the question everyone was wondering about was when. And most of all, why?
Well, I don’t think it’s really clear why. He’s rumoured to be a gang member, he tweets, he uses Instagram and he is always negative. Nothing positive was going to come from all of this – DeSean Jackson was going to be DeSean Jackson, either way. I respected his talent on the field. I think we all respected his talent on the field during his time in Philadelphia.
Let’s shift gears for a minute though. We all remember Allen Iverson. Iverson was a talented basketball player. Iverson lacked maturity when it was time to step off the court. He lacked maturity when it was time to step on the court. Jackson is the same way. And I’m tired of people using the racial card. Stop it!
This has nothing to do with race. This is about liking what you do and doing it with all of your heart. If Jackson really devoted 100% to football and football only, none of this would have happened. And anyone can be replaced, as mentioned by one of his former team-mates.
Why has nothing changed? Does it seem like he’s worried about finding another job in the NFL? I don’t think so.
