Brees had 536 attempts in the season

Brees had an efficient season under center last year for the Saints. For the first time in his career, the team focused on a run-first approach, relieving some of the pressure on the 39-year-old. He had 536 attempts, which is his lowest in a 16 game season since he joined the Saints in 2006. It was also his lowest YPG (Yards Per Game) total over the same time period.

However, when called upon, Brees completed 72% of his passes, which marked a career high.

This offseason Brees was a Free Agent until he put pen to paper on a new deal with the Saints, that’ll see him stay in New Orleans for the next two years. The Saints have turned into serious contenders in the NFC.

They were just 10 seconds away from the Conference Championships this past season, until Stefon Diggs and the ‘Minneapolis Miracle’ stopped their progress.

They have had a great turn around on Defense, with DROY (Defensive Rookie Of the Year) Marshon Lattimore leading the way, and their offense has playmakers at both WR and RB.

Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara ran so well last year that Brees didn’t have to carry the franchise like he so regularly has.

I do see some regression in the running game this season, but Brees is more than capable of upping his passing attempts and touchdowns again.
