The official shape and size of the GTA 6 map is still a mystery but many expect it to be the biggest among all Grand Theft Auto titles. Rockstar Games has described the upcoming installment as the biggest and most immersive evolution of the series yet, and it is being claimed that its map could get even bigger with time.
In a recent post, X user @NikTekOfficial stated that the sequel's map could be expanded with future updates and DLCs:
However, based on the comments on this post, fans don't seem convinced about that being the case. One user, @NickFirzen, sarcastically agreed to this claim and joked about how GTA 6 will get DLCs just like GTA 5 got story DLCs. They said:
"Sure. Just like GTA 5 got DLCs."
For those unaware, Rockstar Games canceled eight GTA 5 story mode DLCs, seemingly due to prioritization of the title's multiplayer, GTA Online.
Here are a few other comments expressing a similar opinion on the possibility of GTA 6 map expansions:

Some even raised concerns about the unused space in the GTA 6 map, which is depicted by all the empty green landmass.

That being said, it should be noted that this isn't GTA 6's official map. The image used in @NikTekOfficial's tweet above has been taken from a fan-led mapping project, which could be as accurate as GTA 5's mapping project was, although that remains to be seen.
Fans don't seem convinced about the GTA 6 map possibly being expanded with future DLCs

Leondia (likely an iteration of Florida) is where the GTA 6 map will be set, but what it will look like remains a mystery. Although expected to be the biggest in the series, there is no official confirmation of the same, let alone it being expanded further via story mode DLCs.
Fans also don't seem convinced, as established by the reactions above. The most likely reason for this skepticism is the cancellation of GTA 5's story mode DLCs that surfaced in December 2023 after the game's source code was leaked.
While GTA 6 story mode being subjected to a similar fate isn't necessary, Rockstar's prioritization of multiplayer content in the last decade suggests otherwise. However, if the developer has plans for longevity with the title, then map expansions would be a neat idea.
