Andrés Alfonso Giménez Osorio is a professional baseball shortstop and second baseman for the Cleveland Guardians of Major League Baseball. He was born on September 4, 1998, in Barquisimeto, Venezuela.

Andres became a free agent in July 2015 and later he was signed by the New York Mets in the same year. Under the organization, he played for the Dominican Summer League Mets in 2016. During this time, his stats were amazing. His batting average was .350, he hit 38 home runs and his OPS was .992. Gimenez was named the best prospect of the New York Mets in 2017. He made his Major League debut with the Mets in July 2020 at Citi Field. In 2021, he got traded to the Cleveland Guardians. With the Guardians he showed prowess as a player by batting .297 with 17 home runs and 69 RBIs in 2022. It was one of his most successful seasons which won him many awards.

He made it to the All-Star team in 2022, he is a two times Gold Glove Award winner (in 2022 and 2023)and he made it to the All-MLB Second Team in 2022. He won the Platinum Glove Award for the 2023 season.

He has called his role model. He has said the following in an interview with Bally Sports: ‘“She is my role model you know, as a worker and as a mentor. She is always there, giving me love and support”.

He has also revealed that when he was only sixteen years only, right after signing with the New York Mets for $1.2 million. The first thing he did was buy his mother a car and a house. Giménez's would often Facetime his mother and wife when he got free time from his practice. His mother and wife came to see his match in America for the first time in 2022. His mother cried after seeing him play. His mom had revealed that the second baseman started playing when he was only three years old.

Andrés revealed in an interview that it was hard for him to choose a risky career because of this. However, his parents were very supportive of his decision.
