Otogakure in Naruto

Otogakure is the personal hidden village of Orochimaru. It was established with the sole objective of gathering ninjas for his experiments and his ambition to master every skill. Otogakure was eventually reinstated as a real shinobi village as a result of Orochimaru’s renewed appreciation of human evolution and his decision to make peace with Konohagakure.

History of Otogakure

Initially, Orochimaru asserted that he established this town so that accomplished ninja might discover their calling in life, independent of the fickle and warmongering agendas of the Five Great Shinobi Countries. In reality, Otogakure is a network of laboratories made up of many bases and hideouts dispersed over the Land of Sound and other nations, and is not a village. The shinobi of Otogakure use a variety of skills, most of which are based on changes as a result of Orochimaru’s human experiments.

Otogakure is being rebuilt as a genuine shinobi town ten years after the Fourth Shinobi World War. As a token of respect between the villages, Mitsuki, Orochimaru’s son, is permitted to enroll in Konoha’s Academy as a transfer student. He later turns into a Konohagakure genin.

Hideouts in Otogakure

During his travels, Orochimaru established numerous bases in various locations. These bases ranged from more opulent ones concealed on an island to more discrete underground hideouts with holes for entry. Each of these hiding places had a laboratory where he and Kabuto Yakushi would eventually conduct research.

Land of Sound Base

The stronghold was constructed beneath a tree and serves as Otogakure’s previous administrative center, at least until the Chūnin Exams. It contains two markings that resemble snakes and the topmost half was what seems to be a snake’s skull. Orochimaru came back to this place after Hiruzen Sarutobi sealed his hands. Sometime later, when Naruto, Sakura, and Jiraiya infiltrated the hideout, they engaged Arashi in combat, which caused the stronghold to be destroyed.

Kusagakure Hideout

This hideout is situated in or close to Kusagakure. This is another covert location that has an entrance at the base of a rock formation that is fully subterranean. There are many rooms and a statue of a huge snake curled up with candles in its eyes inside the actual hideout. This is the place where Sakura and Naruto saw Sasuke after two-year separation. A part of the hideout was destroyed after the encounter. Then, Orochimaru, Sasuke, and Kabuto abandoned it.

Southern Hideout

On an island in the middle of the sea, presumably off the coast of the Land of Waves, is the Southern Hideout. It was full of jail cells, and there were also wardens working there to keep the inmates under control. Karin was one of these wardens, and she eventually joined Sasuke’s squad, Hebi.

Northern Hideout

In terms of size, the Northern Hideout is a larger hideout. It is one of the hiding places that Orochimaru used to conduct his cursed seals in human experimentation. Since Jūgo was the source of this juinjutsu, he was held in this location before Sasuke eventually freed him.

Eastern Hideout

The Eastern Hideout is a secret location below ground. Its entrance is in the shape of a snake’s mouth and the walls are covered in candlesticks that resemble snakes. Large glass cylinders with liquids inside them are also found inside. Suigetsu Hōzuki was confined here and subjected to various experiments.

Island Laboratory

This medical facility was carved into the slope of a small island specifically for Kabuto’s use. The lab was stacked with scalpels and test tubes among various medical supplies. The largest blood extracting apparatus in the lab, however, is what makes it special. Kabuto used it to transfuse himself with Orochimaru’s blood after he appeared to have lost the battle. One of the large room walls is covered in floor-to-ceiling shelves that are loaded with tools, books, scrolls, boxes and experiments in jars.

Demon Island Laboratory

This laboratory is located on Demon Island in the Land of the Sea. It is a research facility with various transgenic species housed in test pillars. Orochimaru terrorized the residents of the Land of Sea by kidnapping them for their lethal experiments, which included creating the ideal underwater ninja, a plan he eventually abandoned.
