The NFL has done something very surprising in the wake of the Los Angeles Chargers’ matchup with the Miami Dolphins on Sunday Night Football. They shared something on social media that appeared to be antagonistic in nature towards the Dolphins fan base.It was a matchup of two playoff hopefuls, but also of quarterbacks from the 2020 draft class. Tua Tagovailoa went one pick ahead of Justin Herbert on the night, but during last night's game, Tagovailoa was roundly outplayed. The two quarterbacks on SNFThere has been a debate since draft night over which quarterback is better. Tagovailoa has ascended to a Pro Bowl level player with Mike McDaniel and Tyreek Hill in town. Herbert, on the other hand, has stagnated somewhat with his wide receivers missing a ton of time with injury. For one night, though, Herbert showed why many believe him to be the better selection. Apparently, the NFL believes that, too. They shared a video on YouTube implying that the Dolphins missed out by not taking Herbert.Dov Kleiman@NFL_DovKleimanThis is real by the NFL. Herbert versus Tagovailoa will be one of those debates for a long time, and it would probably be best to stay out of it.Justin Herbert vs. Tua Tagovailoa: Is the Chargers quarterback better than the Dolphins star? There is an argument to be made for either quarterback being better. This effectively means that neither the Dolphins nor the Chargers made a mistake on draft night, as the NFL's YouTube might have suggested. This is a very nuanced debate. While Tagovailoa looks better right now, it's hard to discount his earlie years. It's also impossible to discount the impact that head coach wunderkind McDaniel and the addition of Hill (as well as the growth of Jaylen Waddle) have had on Tagovailoa. It's hard to accurately judge Herbert without a strong head coach, and while his top two receivers have been out for most of the season. Even at their healthiest, the Chargers duo of Mike Williams and Keenan Allen are arguably not as explosive compared to Hill and Waddle. Still, the statistical advantage for Tagovailoa can't be ignored. In short, this debate has no clear answer and will continue to rage endlessly.
