Joe Burrow had a great NFL rookie season before suffering an injury

Cincinnati Bengals would select quarterback Joe Burrow with their first overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Burrow would start his college career at Ohio State but would later transfer to LSU. While at LSU he would lead them to a National Championship in his senior season.

Joe Burrow's Career Stats at LSU:

  • Completion Percentage: 68.5
  • Passing yards: 8,565 yards
  • Touchdowns: 76
  • interceptions: 11

Burrow would also rush for 767 yards and 12 touchdowns on 243 attempts for the LSU Tigers. Burrows best year was his senior season at LSU. His senior season made him the number one pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Joe Burrow's NFL Rookie Season

Cincinnati Bengals were criticized about taking Joe Burrow with the number one pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The media would base their argument on why the Bengals shouldn't draft Burrow. They said that the Bengals cannot base their franchise quarterback off of one good season. Burrow proved all the media wrong within three starts for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Joe Burrow's 2020 NFL Season Stats:

  • Completion Percentage: 65.3
  • Passing yards: 2,688 yards
  • Touchdowns: 13
  • Interceptions: 5

Burrow would also add 142 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns on 37 attempts during his rookie year. Burrow would start 10 games for the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2020 NFL Season. His starts would end after suffering a torn ACL.

Joe Burrow would pass for 300 yards or more in half of his starts for the Bengals in his rookie year. He wouldn't commit a turnover in half of his starts in the 2020 NFL Season. Burrow was proving a point to the critics that he was definitely worth the number one pick.

If Joe Burrow wouldn't have gotten hurt he would've been up for the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. Cincinnati Bengals need to get him more protection up front. They also need to look at adding a wide receiver and a reliable tight end for the rookie quarterback.

If the Cincinnati Bengals can address their offensive line and get one more wide receiver we could see a different Burrow in 2021. Joe Burrow will have a break out 2021 NFL Season coming off his injury. He could lead the Bengals to the playoffs in the next one to two years. Cincinnati made the right choice in picking Joe Burrow as their franchise quarterback.

Justin Herbert had the best NFL season out of all the rookie quarterbacks

Los Angeles Chargers would select quarterback Justin Herbert with their sixth pick of the first round in the 2020 NFL Draft. Herbert would spend four years at the University of Oregon before heading to the NFL. He would put together four years of great production for Oregon.

Justin Herbert's Career Stats at Oregon:

  • Completion Percentage: 64%
  • Passing yards: 10,541 yards
  • Touchdowns: 95
  • Interceptions: 23

Herbert would also record 560 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns on 231 attempts at Oregon. Justin Herbert was not the typical Oregon quarterback. When thinking of an Oregon offense we think of fast paced mobile quarterback. Herbert was not the best mobile quarterback but could run if he had to.

Justin Herbert's NFL Rookie Season

Justin Herbert would be named starting quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2 of the 2020 NFL Season. Imagine being a rookie quarterback and your first start is against the defending Super Bowl Champions. Herbert came into that start fearless. The Chargers would lose in overtime to the Chiefs 23-20 but this game showed the Chargers that they had something special at quarterback.

Justin Herbert's 2020 NFL Season Stats:

  • Completion Percentage: 66.6%
  • Passing yards: 4,336 yards
  • Touchdowns: 31
  • Interceptions: 10

Herbert would add 234 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns on 55 attempts during his rookie year. Herbert is the leader for the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year. Justin Herbert led the Chargers to a four game winning streak to end the 2020 NFL Season.

Coming into the 2020 NFL Season the Los Angeles Chargers would have a different look to them. Philip Rivers would not be there quarterback and they would have to find his replacement. Tyrod Taylor would be named the starter for their Week 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Even after beating the Bengals the Chargers would insert Justin Herbert into the starting lineup for Week 2. He would not look back after making his first start and would start the next 15 games of the 2020 NFL Season. Herbert may have had a break out year in the 2020 NFL Season.

In the 2021 NFL Season we could potentially see Justin Herbert take the next step in his NFL career. The Chargers are a very talented football team. They have weapons on offense and defense. Justin Herbert will lead the Chargers to the NFL Playoffs in the 2021 NFL Season.
