The Cleveland Browns are one of the better teams in all football.

That notion is somtething that has been largely unfathomable ever since the franchise was revived in 1999. From that point and up until 2020, they had just two winning records and one playoff appearance. And they were also the second team since the 16-game expansion to go winless, in 2017.

But head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry have been more successful than others at turning the Browns into winners. They will look to build on their 11-6 season into the new campaign. Unfortunately, not everyone will get to enjoy any potential success, like these men...

Why the Cleveland Browns re-signed Cade York is something of a mystery.

Despite showing some early promise as a rookie in 2022, he was ditched for Dustin Hopkins after struggling during the 2023 preseason. But now that he is back, there is a dilemma: either ditch the veteran on a massive (for his position) contract, or spurn the youngster looking for redemption.

Expect the Browns' win-now mindset to lean towards the latter, though.

Do the Browns have too many running backs?

Nick Chubb and Nyheim Hines are planning to return from leg injuries soon. Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong have had their moments in spot duty. D'Onta Foreman shone in Derrick Henry's absence and has seen spot minutes as well, while Aidan Robbins has arrived as a UDFA.

Such intense competition could mean the end for John Kelly, who has been mainly a practice and preseason player for much of his tenure.

Do the Browns have too many quarterbacks?

Ad

Last season, the team had to play four additional quarterbacks after Deshaun Watson injured his shoulder and underwent season-ending surgery. So they appear to be stocking up on contingency options in case he either gets hurt or plays poorly.

But usually, there are only three quarterbacks on a roster at any given time. And among the Browns, Dorian Thompson-Robinson is the least experienced. This makes him the likeliest cut risk in a room that boasts Pro Bowlers (Watson, Tyler Huntley, and Jameis Winston).
