The Jacksonville Jaguars need to get back on track. After a torrid season where they melted in the second half of the year, Trevor Lawrence needs to step up. Doug Pederson won a playoff game with them, but he's also under pressure to fix things in 2024.
The Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts have surpassed them in the division, but the difference isn't massive. All the Jaguars need is one good year from Lawrence and they'll be back in the fight for the playoffs.
Here's a closer look at three players who might not survive the 53-man cuts at the end of the month.

3 cut candidates on Jaguars roster ahead of NFL training camp
#1. Gary Brightwell
The former Giants running back won't have much of a chance in a crowded backfield. With Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby as locks, the Jaguars would certainly keep D'Ernest Johnson on the roster while also giving rookie Keilan Robinson a shot as a return specialist.
Brightwell is the odd man out here. He also has some returning ability, but his best shot is of landing in the practice squad and not on the 53-man roster.
#2. C.J. Beathard
Remember him? The veteran quarterback is behind Lawrence and the offseason-acquiring Mac Jones, and at this point, it's unlikely that the franchise will want to keep three quarterbacks around with so many uncertainties around the roster.
Beathard saw plenty of game action in his career for multiple teams, but he isn't good enough to surpass either of the first-round picks ahead of him. There's some chance he could land in the practice squad or return if something happens ahead of him.
#3. Denzel Mims
The former second-round pick of the New York Jets hasn't seen his career pan out as expected, and Jacksonville will be another place where his services won't be used.
Mims isn't a bad player – he just had a bad situation at the start of his career – and this subsequently hampered his development. But the Jaguars will try to go younger and strike gold after losing Calvin Ridley and with no star power at the position.
