3 offseason moves the Indianapolis Colts need to make

What will the Indianapolis Colts do this off-season? It won’t be an easy task for general manager Chris Ballard to improve a team that finished with a 4-12-1 record this past season.

One of the main moves that needed to be made was landing a new head coach. After a long search, Ballard finally found his replacement for Jeff Saturday by hiring former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen.

Steichen, of course, helped guide Jalen Hurts and the Eagles to the Super Bowl this year. It will be interesting to see if he can fix the rebuilding Colts and get them back to respectibility.

The Colts got their coach, but what are three other moves the team should make this offseason?

#1- Work out a trade with the Chicago Bears for the top pick in the draft

Indianapolis needs—really needs—a franchise quarterback to build around. Even if you’re not a Colts fan, you know that.

The Chicago Bears currently own the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Since they already have Justin Fields, it makes perfect sense to trade the pick to a quarterback-needy team.

Ballard, who owns the fourth overall selection, should do whatever he can to move up and land Chicago's pick.

Indianapolis could then select Alabama’s Bryce Young, who’s considered the top quarterback prospect in the entire draft. Steichen could help mold him into an elite NFL signal-caller down the road.

#2 - Sign free agent Isaac Seumalo

Under Steichen this season, the Eagles had probably the best offensive line in the league. Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson are the two most well-known players of the unit, but you can’t overlook solid right guard Isaac Seumalo.

The Colts’ offensive line is definitely one the league’s worst. With that said, surely Steichen hopes Seumalo, who’s a free agent this offseason, will leave Philly and follow him to the Hoosier State. Indianapolis needs as much help on the offensive line as they can get.

#3 - Re-sign Parris Campbell

Whether it’s Young, C.J. Stroud or Will Levis under center, that new quarterback is going to need talented receivers to throw to. The Colts have two solid players in Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce, and re-signing free agent Parris Campbell would just make life easier for a young QB.

After playing only a combined 15 games during his first three years, Campbell was finally healthy this season, recording 63 catches, 623 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
