3 signings Jets must nail down alongside Aaron Rodgers deal to pursue Super Bowl ambitions

It appears to be simply a matter of time before Aaron Rodgers is traded to the New York Jets during the offseason. Both Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers appear to be ready to move on from one another, while the Jets have emerged as the clear frontrunner.

The two teams are reportedly engaging in trade talks, while no other team appears to be legitimately in the mix for Rodgers at this point.

The Jets are already taking certain steps to further convince Aaron Rodgers to join them. They signed Nathaniel Hackett to be their offensive coordinator, who served in the same position for the Packers for two of Rodgers' NFL MVP awards. They also signed Allen Lazard during the free agency period. He was Rodgers' top wide receiver in Green Bay last season.

Allen Lazard is one of several names on the alleged "wish list" that Aaron Rodgers gave the Jets. He apparently expects them to bring certain players to New York that he wants to play with. He believes that adding these three players will help them in their pursuit of winning a Super Bowl in the 2023 NFL season.

#1 - Odell Beckham Jr.

While Aaron Rodgers and Odell Bekham Jr. have never played on the same team before, they apparently desire to do so. The two are admittedly close friends and have often talked about teaming up. Beckham is currently a free agent after sitting out the 2022 NFL season to recover from a knee injury. He's reportedly fully healthy now and could be on his way to New York with Aaron Rodgers.

#2 - Randall Cobb

Randall Cobb is legitimately one of Aaron Rodgers' best friends both on and off the football field. He's also one of his longest-running teammates in Green Bay. While the Jets already have a talented group of wide receivers, including Garrett Wilson and Corey Davis, having Cobb in New York could be a deal-maker for Rodgers. The Jets also recently traded away Elijah Moore, so they could be clearing space for him.

#3 - Marcedes Lewis

While Marcedes Lewis has contributed little statistically over the past several years, Aaron Rodgers has often praised his leadership and locker presence. Rodgers even went as far as to say that he wants to end his career with Lewis on his team, whichever one that may be. The Jets are already deep at tight end with Tyler Conklin and CJ Uzomah, but they may need to add one more in Lewis.

In addition to making moves during free agency and in the trade market, the Jets will also have the opportunity to upgrade their roster in the upcoming 2023 NFL draft. While the majority of their roster is talented, they could still use extra help in certain areas.

The Jets would be wise to further invest in building their offensive line. Protecting Aaron Rodgers, or whoever is playing quarterback, will be of utmost importance. This is one of their weaknesses. They can also upgrade their safety position on defense. While their cornerbacks are excellent, their safety help on deep balls and in the middle of the field is one of their few defensive weaknesses.
