3 Teams eliminated from NFL Playoffs following Week 14 of 2022 season

The NFL Playoffs are about a month away as there are four weeks remaining in the 2022 NFL regular season. All of the bye weeks have concluded; all 32 NFL teams have played 13 games this year with four more games remaining. The standings are starting to take shape and the field for the NFL Playoffs is beginning to sort itself out.

Of the 14 available spots in the NFL Playoffs this year, 13 of them are still up for grabs. The Philadelphia Eagles are the only team to clinch a playoff berth with their NFL-leading 12-1 record at the conclusion of Week 14 of the 2022 NFL season.

The remaining 13 playoff spots will be occupied by one of the 28 other NFL teams. Only three teams have been mathematically eliminated from the playoff race entering Week 15. Here are those three teams:

#1 - Denver Broncos (3-10), Eliminated from NFL Playoffs

The Denver Broncos were aggressive during the 2022 NFL offseason when they acquired Russell Wilson via trade with the Seattle Seahawks. They sent a massive package of players and draft picks in exchange for what they believed was an elite quarterback who could lead them to the playoffs. The rest of their roster was already complete; acquiring Wilson was supposed to be their finishing move.

It hasn't worked out according to plan during the 2022 NFL season. Wilson's first season with his new team has been a disaster. He is having the worst statistical season of his career while the Broncos have earned just three wins in their first 13 games. Rather than competing for a Super Bowl, they are one of the first teams to be officially eliminated from the race for the playoffs.

#2 - Chicago Bears (3-10), Eliminated from NFL Playoffs

The Chicago Bears are currently in a rebuilding phase. It shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that they aren't going to make the NFL Playoffs this year. They have been trading away veteran players this year in exchange for draft picks, including Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn.

As the Bears look towards their future, they appear to have found something special in young quarterback Justin Fields. This is especially true about his rushing abilities. He leads all quarterbacks with 904 rushing yards this season, ranking eighth among all NFL players this year.

#3 - Houston Texans (1-11-1), Eliminated from NFL Playoffs

The Houston Texans have clearly been the worst team during the 2022 NFL season, earning one victory. They were projected to finish towards the bottom of the NFL prior to the start of the season and have failed to exceed their expectations.

Looking towards the 2023 offseason, the Texans are favored to earn their first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. They may be looking to acquire a quarterback with their top selection as Davis Mills has failed to secure a long-term position. Luckily for them, most draft scouts consider this year's quarterback class to be loaded with talent.
