The San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets are facing off in a Week 1 Monday matchup. The franchises enter the season with contrasting ends to their 2023 campaigns.

San Francisco 49ers injury report for Week 1

According to the San Francisco 49ers website, defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos and linebacker Dee Winters are listed as out of the Jets game. Safety Talanoa Hufanga is doubtful, while guard Aaron Banks and star running back Christian McCaffrey are listed as questionable.

Running back Isaac Guerendo, wide receiver Jauan Jennings, linebacker Tatum Bethune, guard Spencer Burford and punter Mitch Wishnowsky are on the injury report without designations for their opening matchup. Let's take a look at the players listed as out and doubtful for Week 1.

Yetur Gross-Matos injury status

According to CBS, Yetur Gross-Matos has been ruled out of his side's Week 1 game due to a knee injury. The defensive end logged back-to-back DNPs to begin the week, and his next chance at playing up will be in Week 2 versus the Minnesota Vikings on September 15, 2024.

Dee Winters' injury status

According to CBS, Dee Winters has been ruled out of Week 1. The linebacker has an injured ankle and hasn't recovered well enough to play against the New York Jets.

Winters suffered the injury in the San Francisco 49ers' last preseason game against the New Orleans Saints. Hence, he'll be watching his teammates from the sidelines.

Talanoa Hufanga's injury status

According to NBC, Talanoa Hufanga's return to the Gridiron from a knee injury that ended his 2023 campaign might have to wait. The safety is listed as doubtful for his side's first game of the season against the New York Jets.

New York Jets injury report for Week 1

Guard Wes Schweitz and linebacker Zaire Barnes appear on the New York Jets injury report. Both players have been ruled out of their team's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Other players on the injury report are safety Jarrick Bernard-Converse, guard Xavier Newman-Johnson, wide receiver Mike Williams, and offensive tackles Tyron Smith and Max Mitchell. These players participated in training this week and have no designations entering into Week 1.

Wes Schweitzer's injury status

This week, the franchise placed star offensive lineman Wes Schweitzer on the injured reserve. Schweitzer sustained a hand injury in practice.

Zaire Barnes' injury status

Zaire Barnes will also miss his side's opening game of the season. The linebacker was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, but he sat out sessions Thursday and Friday due to an ankle injury. He won't play any part in the game against the 49ers.
