5 NFL teams in dire need of reinforcements before trade deadline 2022 ft. Packers, Buccaneers, and more

The trade deadline for all teams during the 2022 NFL season is officially set for November 1. That means all teams have less than two weeks to complete any trades until the market reopens at the conclusion of the season.

Teams looking to make trades prior to the deadline are usually motivated by one of two goals. They are either attempting to improve their roster for a potential playoff run or looking to exchange players for future assets if they don't appear to be in the running for the postseason.

Several NFL teams have failed to live up to their preseason expectations during the early weeks of the 2022 regular season. In an effort to salvage their year and decrease their chances of missing out on the playoffs, some teams should look for reinforcements at the trade deadline, including these five.

#1 - Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders entered the 2022 NFL season with huge expectations. They appeared in the NFL playoffs last season and made significant upgrades during the offseason on both sides of the ball.

They also added superstar wide receiver Davante Adams and elite edge rusher Chandler Jones in an attempt to elevate themselves to Super Bowl contenders.

The Raiders have been one of the biggest disappointments in the early stages of the 2022 season after losing four of their first five games. Their defense has been a bit of an issue, particularly against the pass.

They currently rank in the bottom 10 in passing yards allowed per game, so upgrading their secondary may be a wise decision.

#2 - Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers shockingly traded Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders prior to the start of the 2022 NFL season. Rather than replacing him with another established veteran, the Packers elected to go with a group of unproven wide receivers.

Things haven't worked out for the Packers as they have a 3-4 record after seven games. Aaron Rodgers has won the NFL MVP award in each of the last two seasons, but hasn't been the same this year, throwing just nine touchdowns and three interceptions so far.

It may be time for the Packers to add another weapon for Rodgers in the passing game to get things back on track.

#3 - New York Giants

The New York Giants are in a slightly different situation than some of the teams looking to make moves at the NFL trade deadline. They have far exceeded expectations during the 2022 NFL season so far, getting off to an impressive 6-1 start.

They may not have been considered playoff contenders prior to the start of the season, but they surely are now.

The Giants have played themselves into a position where they should really go for it and try to build the best team possible for a potential playoff run later in the year.

While Saquon Barkley leads the league in rushing yards, their passing offense is a major problem. They have averaged the second-fewest passing yards per game so far, and could benefit from adding wide receivers for Daniel Jones.

#4 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tom Brady joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the 2020 offseason. He and the team's front office added valuable offensive weapons, such as Leonard Fournette, to a group that already included superstars such as Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

While his supporting cast remains strong in the 2022 NFL season, his offensive line is not at all what it used to be.

The Buccaneers featured one of the best offensive lines in the NFL during Brady's first two seasons with the team. During the 2022 offseason, Ali Marpet retired, Alex Cappa left during free agency, and Ryan Jensen suffered a knee injury.

They have struggled to protect Tom Brady because of this, contributing to their 3-4 record. They should use the trade deadline to upgarde their blocking.

#5 - Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have alternated wins and losses in the first half of the 2022 NFL season so far, resulting in a 4-3 record through seven games. They are interesting playoff contenders because their strengths are extremely strong, but their weaknesses are glaring.

The Ravens currently rank in the top 10 in rushing yards per game and rushing yards allowed per game. They rank in the bottom 10 passing yards per game and passing yards allowed per game. They should consider adding wide receivers and defensive backs to make themselves a more complete team.
