Aaron Jones Injury Update and Fantasy Outlook: Should you start the Packers' RB in Week 17?

Green Bay Packers v Miami Dolphins
Aaron Jones of the Green Bay Packers walks off the field after defeating the Miami Dolphins

Before a Week 17 game against the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones was a limited member in training on Wednesday and Thursday. Jones reportedly has injuries to his knee and ankle. Against the Miami Dolphins in Week 16, he had several limitations.

The Packers will need all the support they can get over the next two weeks if they want to have a chance of qualifying for the postseason games if they manage to win their remaining games.

The removal of an injury notation in Friday's full report is excellent news for fantasy owners who hold Jones. However, there is still a possibility Jones will once again manage a smaller role compared to the significant usage edge he had against A.J. Dillon earlier in the campaign. Both are viable fantasy picks for Week 17 against a shaky Minnesota Vikings secondary.

Aaron Jones stats and fantasy prediction for Week 17

Just eight touches were allotted to Aaron Jones in the Week 16 matchup versus Miami. With 13 touches, Dillon took the larger responsibility for Green Bay for most of the day. He made 36 yards and a TD on 11 carries with the ball.

We predict Dillion to take on the workload and have comparable results vs. a Vikings unit that is 18th in the NFL against the run if Jones is again hindered.

Jones completed only 38% of the Packers' plays against the Dolphins and saw only six runs despite not having a clear injury indication on the Packers' last injury report going into last weekend. Jones' performance was frustrating as he had the opportunity to take advantage of Miami's vulnerability to pass-catching running backs.

Just after the contest, Jones admitted that he was playing with an ankle problem and that his leg was folded almost immediately after kickoff, which explained why he consistently lagged behind A.J. Dillon. Regrettably, that did not assist fantasy owners competing in their league playoffs.

The Packers' hopes of making the playoffs are still intact. This is excellent news for fantasy owners this weekend, as the squad will give the Minnesota Vikings everything they have in Week 17. It's unfortunate that, given his lingering ankle ailment and Dillon's increased workload, Aaron Jones will still be difficult to rely on.

Fantasy owners now have hope for his full fitness after a complete go on Friday. However, his problems make him a difficult fantasy player to rely on. Aaron Jones has had three performances over the past three games, including one in which he produced 18.6 fantasy points and two others in which he scored 7.5 and 4.4.
