Adam Thielen waiver wire fantasy outlook: Is Panthers WR a priority add in Week 15?

It turns out there is some life in these Carolina Panthers after all. After initially being written off owing to a game of musical chairs at quarterback, the Panthers finally settled on Bryce Young, the former No. 1 overall pick.

Over the last few weeks, rookie coach Dave Canales has turned the ship around, and while they may not have picked up the wins, there is enough evidence that Young, Adam Thielen, Chuba Hubbard and Co. have what it takes to compete on the field.

Thielen in particular has seen a resurgence with the offense on the up. So is this a good time to pick the Panthers wide receiver off the waiver wire?

Adam Thielen waiver wire fantasy outlook for Week 15

Thielen has found life difficult after trading the Minnesota Vikings' uniform for the Panthers. A seven-game absence with a hamstring injury didn't help with his rhythm as he struggled to get on the field.

Since returning, Thielen has looked like the veteran WR the Panthers signed. In three games since his comeback, he has racked up 25 targets that have been converted into 20 catches for 258 yards. Thielen is averaging 8.3 targets, 6.7 catches and 86 yards in that span. Those are pretty decent numbers if you need help at the WR position.

He eclipsed 100 yards for the first time this year when in Week 14 he caught nine of his 11 targets for 102 yards.

The first rule of fantasy is that whoever is on your roster needs to have decent enough volume to be a consistent threat. That stands true with Thielen, who has excelled since returning from a hamstring injury.

Given the fact that Bryce Young also looks every bit like the quarterback who deserved to be picked first overall, Thielen seems like a pretty good flex option going forward. At present, Thielen is rostered on anywhere between 35-55% of leagues.
