In many aspects, Braelon Allen is in the same boat as fellow rookie Bucky Irving if we're looking at Week 4 waiver wire pickups. Both running backs impressed this week with different matchups and both running backs saw their workload increase – positive signs to take into Week 4.
With injuries piling up across the board, Week 4 is as good a time as any to look at waiver wire adds to shore up your roster's depth.

Fantasy Football Week 4 Waiver Wire Pickups: Braelon Allen
There's absolutely no doubt that Breece Hall is the alpha in this New York Jets running back room. That has never been up for debate.

What has been up for debate is rookie Braelon Allen's role in this offense with a healthy Hall in the picture. Most of us assumed Allen's ceiling would be as a handcuff for Hall but after three weeks of football, we're seeing the former Wisconsin playmaker getting more and more involved.
Allen already has a rushing and receiving touchdown so far and the Jets seem to be slowly increasing his workload as the weeks go on. Whether that's as insurance if Hall goes down or simply a way to make the best use of their resources in a long and grueling season, things are clicking and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett is more than happy to turn to Allen.
In Week 3, Allen carried the ball 11 times, registering 55 yards on the ground. He also added three catches to wrap up a 42-3 win over the New England Patriots to kick off the Week 3 schedule.
Interestingly, Allen registered more rushing yards than Breece Hall for the second week running. At this point, it makes sense to look at Allen less as a handcuff and more as a flex play.
At the time of writing, Allen is available in 28% of ESPN leagues and 36% of Yahoo leagues. He really shouldn't be available en masse but if you have the option, better snap him up soon.
