The broken, bruised and battered San Francisco 49ers will face off against the Chicago Bears this Sunday in an effort to prove that all is not lost just yet. Having lost Brandon Aiyuk and Christian McCaffrey to season-ending injuries along with backup running back Jordan Mason, the Niners are a little short-handed heading into the Sunday showdown.
Can Brock Purdy prove he can still sling it to his backup offense, especially with a big contract on the line in Week 14? Here's everything you need to know about Purdy's fantasy projection this week alongside a look at Derek Carr's potential.
Brock Purdy fantasy projection for Week 14
Purdy was a full participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday this week, allaying any fears over his potential absence on Sunday. A nasty shoulder injury kept him out of Week 12 before he made his return in Week 13 where the Niners were pummelled 35-10 on Sunday Night Football.

Purdy completed 11 of his 18 passes for 94 yards and rushed twice for 4 yards and a lost fumble in that loss.
Entering Week 14, per Fantasy Pros, he is the QB11 in fantasy points per game, which bodes well, given he will now go up against a pretty leaky Bears defense. Chicago's defense has taken a turn for the worse in recent weeks, allowing QBs to go off on dropbacks. If Purdy chooses to sling it all afternoon, he should be more than comfortable against the Bears this Sunday.
Derek Carr fantasy projection for Week 14
Yes, the New Orleans Saints are injury-hit heading into Week 14 but have you seen the state of the Saints?
A seven-point loss at the hands of the Rams means the Saints are still stuck on four wins on the season. Derek Carr went 24-of-37 on passing attempts for 184 yards and one touchdown as he tried to make the best out of a makeshit offensive unit. Taysom Hill is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury, which means the Saints are short one more red-zone target.
It just doesn't look that good for Carr this week, or most weeks for the rest of the year.
Brock Purdy or Derek Carr: Final Week 14 verdict
Like Sportskeeda's Start/Sit tool, we are inclined to lean toward Purdy this week. This Bears defense has struggled to keep QBs in check over the last couple of weeks and Purdy still has Ricky Pearsall and Deebo Samuel to throw to even if Aiyuk is out of the picture.
