Broncos starting QB today: Is Russell Wilson playing vs. the LA Rams? Injury update and playing outlook for Week 16

Russell Wilson, the quarterback for the Denver Broncos, passed the concussion protocol and will start tonight when Denver face the Los Angeles Rams.

Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett said, "Russ is going to play next week, but I think Brett Rypien did a pretty excellent job in his absence."

According to Hackett, Wilson was not allowed to play last week against the Arizona Cardinals, even though he had passed the concussion protocol.

Given the expectations that came with his signing, Russell Wilson has been a massive disappointment in the NFL this season.

With a record of 4-10, the Denver Broncos are one of only five franchises already ruled out of the playoffs as of Week 16.

The Los Angeles Rams, the Broncos' opponents today, have perhaps disappointed even more this year. Both sides are fighting for pride solely as they are out of the postseason picture. Due to being two of the league's weakest offenses this season, neither of the two teams can score many points.

Wilson has returned, and this might be the Broncos' first chance to gain traction this year with Matthew Stafford still out for the Rams.

Russell Wilson's fantasy outlook for Week 16

Russell Wilson was having his finest performance of the campaign when he got hurt in Week 14's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He had three touchdowns, an interception, and 247 passing yards. His 57 rushing yards were the most on the team. This was the Wilson Broncos supporters were hoping for this season.

Russ has had trouble getting along with his new teammates on the pitch. He has passed for 2,805 yards, 11 touchdowns, and six interceptions this season with three games remaining. His career-low completion rate is 60.4.

Wilson also ranks second in the NFL with 43 sacks in 12 games. This total is also on the verge of surpassing his previous high.

Wilson's reintroduction could be a hit or a miss this week, as he has helped the team produce one of the league's poorest attacks. When he was taken from the field in his most recent game, he displayed some upside, but it isn't easy to rely on him in fantasy football for this week.

Wilson played for the Seattle Seahawks for 10 seasons, so the Rams have a lot of experience playing against him. The Rams have had an 8-12 mark against Wilson going into the next game.
