Cam Akers Fantasy Outlook for Week 12 of the 2022 NFL Season

Super Bowl LVI - Los Angeles Rams Practice & Media Day
Cam Akers of the Los Angeles Rams speaks to the media

The Los Angeles Rams' offensive line, including running back Cam Akers, has been a complete mess this campaign. Running the ball has been particularly poor by them. They are 31st in both total yards and yards per attempt.

Akers and his colleagues have struggled to gain footing all season, but in their last outing, the third-year running back matched his season high with 61 rushing yards.

What does Darrell Henderson's departure from Los Angeles mean for the Rams' core, and who is now the player to own in fantasy football? Cam Akers is the obvious choice, but Kyren Williams also has a chance.

I tried telling you Cam Akers is a top 5 RB. Don't try jumping on the bandwagon now

Although Akers has only rushed for 237 yards and one touchdown so far this term, it's unusual to find a starting running back on the waiver wire at this time in the season.

Irrespective of whether we have confidence in this Rams offensive unit, we must consider including Akers in our squad because he will have a chance to touch the ball.

Despite Matthew Stafford's difficulties over the year, his comeback should be beneficial.

Cam Akers and rookie Kyren Williams are currently the only RBs on the #Rams active roster.…

If the Los Angeles Rams make it that far, Akers might receive more than 15 carries and touches on the goal line against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12. That potential has a greater upside than the majority of possibilities on the waiver wire market.

Cam Akers was back in charge of the Rams' backfield against the New Orleans Saints in his last outing and had a good yardage average of 4.4.

Cam Akers' stats and fantasy prediction

Cam Akers unexpectedly led the Los Angeles Rams' backfield in both carries (14 total) and running yards (61 total) against the New Orleans Saints in Week 11. This was after being written off by the fantasy world at the beginning of the season.

In terms of carries, he outperformed backfield teammate Kyren Williams 14-7, while Darrell Henderson Jr. saw only two against New Orleans.

Rams waived RB Darrell Henderson.

The Rams' unexpected decision to remove Henderson earlier this week will allow Akers to retake the top running back position in the LA backfield. This floundering attack would do well to reconsider the thought of handing Akers 20 or more rushes against the Chiefs this weekend. More so, with Matthew Stafford battling his second concussion in less than three weeks.

Regarding the total fantasy points allowed to the opposition, Kansas City ranks fourth. They also allow the seventh-most points to running backs.

Akers might not get many touches or time as we anticipate the Rams being behind for most of this game.
