The Houston Texans have been sweating over the fitness of lead back Joe Mixon who is currently nursing an ankle injury. With Dameon Pierce also a doubt to face the Jacksonville Jaguars this week, all attention turns to Cam Akers, who has been thrust into the spotlight.
Elsewhere, the NFL's former leading rusher Josh Jacobs will look to bounce back from a disappointing outing against a tough Tennessee Titans defense. So what does Week 4 hold in store for Akers and Jacobs?

Cam Akers fantasy outlook for Week 4
From the outside, it appears Akers will be the Texans' lead running back against Jacksonville. At least it did for most of the week until Joe Mixon returned to practice in a limited capacity on Friday afternoon.

An ankle injury can be a nasty one to return from so the jury's still out on Mixon suiting up. In all honesty, the Texans should be able to figure out a way to win even without Mixon in the picture. It's not like Doug Pederson's Jaguars have locked down offenses so far.
If Akers does come into the picture, his Week 3 numbers project an optimistic outlook. Akers played 43% of the snaps last week and had 10 carries for 28 total yards. He did have a receiving touchdown, though, and handled most of the rushing workload.
We will need to see a rushing touchdown from Akers to be fully in on his potential. Jacksonville hasn't exactly locked down offenses so far but their run defense is not one that's outright primed to exploit in a matchup.
Josh Jacobs fantasy outlook for Week 4
If you, like us, were disappointed with Jacobs managing just 43 yards on 14 carries against the Titans, join the club. His longest run was for 10 yards. None of the others totaled above 6 yards. Jacobs' backup Emanuel Wilson had a much more productive afternoon with 85 yards and a TD on 14 carries.
Jacobs should have a better week if Jordan Love suits up against the Vikings (more on Love's injury status here) but his lack of end zone presence is a concern. The Packers put up 30 points against the Titans but Jacobs had little to show in his numbers.
Jacobs is guaranteed volume in this offense so we're more than likely to see him bounce back. Whether that's against Brian Flores' defense remains to be seen.
Cam Akers or Josh Jacobs: Final verdict
Sportskeeda's Who Should I Start analyzer is higher on Jacobs this week and with good reason.

This Packers offense is fun to watch and Jacobs is one of the few workhorse backs left in the league. We're betting on Jacobs having a bounceback game despite a tough matchup in Week 4.
