CeeDee Lamb came into the Week 14 Monday Night Football game against the Cowboys with questions surrounding the Cowboys star. He had some uncharacteristic drops in their win against the Giants last week and he had promised them to figure them out. He also revealed that he had not fully recovered from a shoulder injury that was still bothering him.
CeeDee Lamb had promised to be at his best today calling those issues an "easy fix". The Cowboys needed him to deliver against the Bengals. For one, they were playing at home against another team with a worse losing record than them. Dallas came into this game with a 5-7 record but Cincinnati was worse off at 4-8.
The chances of the Cowboys making the playoffs are remote but not non-existent. Additionally, a win here would have taken them to a 6-7 record, just one of the 0.500 mark. A win next week against the Panthers to get there is eminently possible. With Dak Prescott out injured, their defense being patchy and their running game struggling the entire season, Dallas needed CeeDee Lamb to leave his mark on this match. This is how he fared on Monday Night versus the Bengals.

The Cowboys wide receiver was in the thick of things right from the off. In the first half, he had two notable plays. In one instance, he showed why he is paid the big bucks after making something out of nothing. Cooper Rush threw him the ball on a 2nd-and-7 behind the line of scrimmage on a simple pass play. What Dallas would have hoped for is that they would have gone some short yardage and tried again on the third down.
However, CeeDee Lamb had other plans. Starting from the quarterback's right, he swept around the field to go up the other end. The Bengals' defense reacted and nearly had him in the backfield but some quick cuts and shimmies opened up the field for him. He got the first down and more before finally being brought down near the 20-yard line. That 43-yard carry came with the scores tied 7-7 and got the Cowboys on the front foot. It was a moment of brilliance by the wide receiver.
The fact that the Cowboys had those seven points on the board was also courtesy of CeeDee Lamb. On the first drive of the game, he ensured that he got open in the endzone so that Cooper Rush could find him with an 11-yard throw. The play came on a gutsy 4th-and-1 call in the red zone. As the Bengals committed to stopping a short gain to pick up the first down, the wide receiver was gone. It was a simple pass after that for the quarterback.
By the end of the first half, CeeDee Lamb had four receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown. In the second half, it was clear that he was attracting more attention as the Bengals coaching staff would have told the players to shadow him. Going into the fourth quarter, he had one more reception for seven yards. He also picked up a yard on a rushing play.
However, what that added attention did was open up the running lanes. Rico Dowdle rushed for more than 100 yards in his second straight game and even though he will get the plaudits, the wide receiver deserves a lot of credit for running Cincinnati ragged in the first half. Even then, it proved to be insufficient as Cincinnati left Dallas with a win after a special team disaster to end the game.
