Could Jordan Love eventually become the franchise's next great QB? It's possible that Aaron Rodgers could be traded to the New York Jets or retire within the next few days. If that happens, the Green Bay Packers are expected to build around young quarterback Jordan Love going forward.

Green Bay traded to select Love in the first round (26th overall pick) of the 2020 NFL Draft. The move shocked the football world, seeing that the team already had Rodgers, who was a two-time MVP at the time.

We haven't seen much of Jordan Love as he has sat behind Rodgers for the last three years. After not appearing in a single game during his rookie year, he has played a total of 10 regular-season contests, including one start.

In that lone start, which was a 13-7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on November 17th, 2021, he completed 19 of his 34 pass attempts for 190 yards, one touchdown and an interception. He also rushed for 23 yards.

A year ago, it looked like Love would finally get the opportunity to become the Packers' full-time starter. Rodgers was rumored to get traded to a team like the Denver Broncos or San Francisco 49ers, but obviously nothing materialized. Rodgers is expected to be shipped to the Jets at any moment, opening the door for Love to emerge as "The Man" in Green Bay.

Can Jordan Love follow in the footsteps of Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers?

Back in the day, the 49ers impressively employed back-to-back Hall of Fame quarterbacks Joe Montana and Steve Young. Green Bay later did the same thing, going from Brett Favre to Rodgers.

Favre, who was acquired from the Atlanta Falcons in 1992, spent 16 seasons with the Packers, winning three NFL MVP awards and leading the team to a Super Bowl victory. Ironically, he joined the Jets after leaving Green Bay.

The Packers later drafted Rodgers in 2005 and, like Love, sat on the bench for three years before taking over as the starter. Rodgers has played 18 years with the team, winning a Super Bowl, Super Bowl MVP, and four NFL MVPs.

Jordan Love has a lot to accomplish if he wants to become the next Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers. We'll be watching to see if the Utah State product can pull off such a feat.
