Dameon Pierce's fantasy outlook: Is he a good pick?

It's a good time to look at Dameon Pierce's fantasy outlook as he faces an unbeaten Philadelphia Eagles side in his upcoming game.

Dameon Pierce will come up against a strong opponent, but his volume gives him a play for RB2. In three of the last five outings, he has had 20 or more carries, and in three straight games, he has been targeted at least four times.

Because of the matchup, fantasy owners may prefer to shun the idea of using Pierce. But you must retain him in your long-term plans and trust that the volume results in more touchdowns.

The problems with this system, in general, may prevent Pierce from receiving adequate red zone opportunities to be a fantasy RB1 at this point. This is even though Pierce has one of the most guaranteed places of any running back in the league. He is currently a high-end RB2 though.

Dameon Pierce's stats and fantasy prediction

In a defeat to the Tennessee Titans, Dameon Pierce gained 35 yards on 15 carries and added 16 yards and a touchdown on three of his five targets. But more crucially, as the Houston Texans' starting backfield quarterback, he etched out a 91% opportunity share. Because of the absurd volume he gets, Houston's only offensive weapon is worth buying low on.

By catching a touchdown pass in the final seconds of the fourth quarter, Dameon Pierce managed to save his fantasy week. He consistently manages to deliver a great fantasy stat line, even when it's not his day. Going forward, Pierce is still a fantasy RB2 with potential.

The rookie running back's rushing total was the fewest since the season's opening game. The Texans and Pierce face the Philadelphia Eagles in a challenging battle on Thursday night.

In five games in a row, Pierce has reached the end zone or 100 scrimmage yards, or both. In his next game against the unbeaten Eagles, Pierce will try to continue that trend.

A good RB2 against an Eagles team that ranks 17th against fantasy running backs, Pierce has produced five consecutive double-digit fantasy performances.

Considering that the Houston Texans have a poor offense, Pierce has consistently led touches on the ground, keeping his fantasy worth in the high-end RB2 category.

It doesn't look good for Pierce to reach the end zone, or go further than 70 yards now that he's going up against the Eagles. They are a team that will dictate proceedings and probably put this one to bed early.

The Eagles are the only unbeaten side in the league after seven contests. Unsurprisingly, they haven't shown any vulnerabilities on either side of the ball. As a result, Philadelphia enters this matchup in Week 9 with the No. 3 overall and opponent yards per game rankings.
