Todd Gurley seems to be doing his best Tom Brady impression as the running back looks to have backtracked on his retirement comments. The former University of Georgia star took to Twitter to clarify that he wasn't retiring from the NFL.

"Fake News"

The day before, he appeared on the NFL Network and seemed to say that his time in the league was done. Andrew Siciliano commented that the running back's Twitter activity suggested that he is “calling it quits.”

The running back responded with an emphatic answer.

“I don’t think there’s any question about that one."

Siciliano then asked for clarification about no longer wanting to play in the NFL anymore. Gurley again replied in the affirmative.

“Yeah, most definitely.”

The comments from running backs harkened NFL fans back to the whirlwind that was the 'retirement' of Brady. Back in February, the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback initially retired after 22 seasons in the NFL. However, Brady called an audible in March, deciding to come out of retirement for his 23rd season.

The two-time All-Pro running back might have some fire left in him when it comes to his NFL career.

Fans last saw the running back in the 2020-21 season with the Atlanta Falcons. That season, he rushed for just 678 yards and nine touchdowns for the Falcons. Prior to playing with Atlanta, he played the first five seasons of his career with the St. Louis-Los Angeles Rams. The Rams drafted the Bulldogs running back with the 10th selection in the 2015 NFL Draft.

He won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in the 2015 -16 season, rushing for 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns. The three-time Pro Bowler finished third in the league in rushing yards and tied for second in touchdowns.

In his five seasons with the Rams, Todd Gurley ran for a total of 5,404 yards and 58 touchdowns. He also caught 218 passes for 2,018 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Given that he's younger than Brady and still at his peak, we'll see if NFL teams will seek Gurley's services.
