Diontae Johnson has excelled this season, emerging as the Carolina Panthers' top target since Andy Dalton became the starting quarterback. After two quiet games with five total catches, Johnson recorded eight receptions for 122 yards against the Las Vegas Raiders and seven for 83 yards versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

The six-year veteran could see his good momentum interrupted this weekend against the Chicago Bears. It's time to see if the Panthers and fantasy managers have reasons to worry ahead of their Week 5 matchup.

Diontae Johnson injury update: What happened to Panthers WR?

After being included on Wednesday's injury report due to an ankle issue that prevented him from participating in yesterday's session, Johnson was included again today but was listed as a limited participant.

This is a good sign for him and the Panthers, who have 19 players on their lengthy injury report. Shaq Thompson, Josey Jewell, and Miles Sanders were some of the players listed as DNPs for today's session, which worsened the Panthers' situation regarding injuries.

As of today, Johnson is questionable for Sunday's game against rookie quarterback Caleb Williams' Bears.

Diontae Johnson fantasy outlook Week 5

Adding Andy Dalton to the starting lineup has been a major move for the Panthers, who upset the Raiders and competed against the Bengals in the past two games. More than that, Diontae Johnson has enjoyed the benefits of having the 14-year play-caller under center.

If he's fully healthy to play this Sunday, Johnson is expected to have another strong fantasy outing. His fantasy prospects are looking promising entering the Bears game, with ESPN projecting him to get five receptions on nine targets for 75 yards and a total production of 15.32 fantasy points.

The Panthers still have hopes to at least fight for the NFC South division, but they need to start winning games consistently. The Bears aren't the strongest opponent out there, which could open the door for the second win of the campaign. Johnson has shown that he only needed the right partner to shine, and the next game could be another show for wide receiver.

This game is scheduled at 1 p.m. ET and will be played at Soldier Field. Then, they'll face the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 13 back at home.
