The New York Jets have been one of the busiest teams this off-season. They will continue to be as they pursue Aaron Rodgers. Rumors about Rodgers either becoming a Jet or retiring from the NFL have been flying all over this past week.

The Packers have made it no secret that they are ready to move on from him. That might finally happen any day now.

The Jets have cleared cap space, making room to acquire Rodgers. They restructured the contracts of guard Laken Tomlinson, cornerback DJ Reed, and Tyler Conklin this morning, creating $15.2 million in cap space in 2023.

Earlier this week, they converted $4.5 million of tight end CJ Uzomah's base salary into a bonus, clearing $3.6 million in cap space this off-season.

The team also released slot receiver Braxton Berrios after the two couldn't reach a restructured deal, which saved the team $5 million this season.

After all the moves they've made to clear cap space this week, the Jets now have over $20 million in cap space.

General manager Joe Douglas said at the combine that the team had the flexibility to create more cap space. He showed everyone that with the recent moves the Jets have made. They can create more cap space by re-working the deals of veterans such as wide receiver Corey Davis, defensive end Carl Lawson, and linebacker CJ Mosley.

It seems as if Aaron Rodgers' asking price from the Packers has been revealed.

Former NFL GM Michael Lombardi joined the Pat McAfee Show and revealed that Green Bay is looking for one first-round pick and a conditional pick if he plays for more than one season.

Lombardi said:

"The Packers were looking for a (first-round pick), and they want something else if he plays longer. Now, I think what that means is we want your one. But if he plays two years, we want a three, or we want a two. We want a conditional pick to go along with what we have."

Aaron Rodgers' salary cap hit if he's traded to a team this season will be $15.74 million.

The Jets have cleared up enough space this morning for them to acquire Rodgers. A deal is expected to happen at any moment once Rodgers is basically OK with it. It looks like Rodgers will be a New York Jet soon.
