NFL Insider Tom Pelissero reported on Saturday that Maye has passed the concussion protocol and is eligible to play for the New England Patriots in Week 9.

The Patriots and the Tennessee Titans kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. Maye, who has shown promise since taking over as the starting quarterback, will start at center for New England once again.

Since Maye replaced Jacoby Brissett as the Pats starting quarterback last month, there has been an increase in excitement around the team's offense. He has demonstrated the skill and promise that made New England use a third overall pick to select him in the NFL Draft in April.

The former North Carolina signal-caller has accumulated 564 passing yards, five passing touchdowns and two interceptions in four games this season. However, it should be noted that the bulk of those totals came in his two complete games as the starter in Weeks 6 and 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans, respectively.

Drake Maye injury update: What happened to the Patriots' QB?

Since assuming the starting role three games ago, Drake Maye, who started the season as the Patriots' backup quarterback behind Jacoby Brissett, has emerged as one of the league's most skilled young quarterbacks. However, Maye's head injury against the New York Jets in Week 8 made him an injury doubt for the Patriots this week.

After receiving a helmet-to-helmet hit during the Patriots' third offensive drive of the game, the 22-year-old quarterback left in the second quarter. Brissett subsequently guided New England to a victory of 25–22 after Maye left.

Drake Maye logged three limited practice participations during the week, and there were question marks over his potential availability status for Week 9.

On Friday morning, Patriots coach Jerod Mayo said that Maye was still in concussion protocol. Itt was uncertain at that time whether the rookie quarterback would be cleared to play on Sunday.

According to Tom Pelissero, the Patriots have declared that Maye is off the injury list after being cleared on Saturday.
