EXCLUSIVE: "I'm a little bit worried" - Ex-Falcons HC Mike Smith concerned about Chiefs after team's biggest weakness was exposed again

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs returned to winning ways with a 34-28 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday. The superstar quarterback continued his excellent form, throwing for 352 yards and three touchdowns.

This was Mahomes' 15th win in a divisional road game. He has never lost an away game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, or the Broncos, despite facing them twice a year. Mahomes is 15-0 in road games against Kansas City's AFC West rivals.

The Chiefs, as they have always been since Mahomes became the team's starting quarterback, are among the favorites to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl in February alongside the Buffalo Bills. However, former Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith is concerned about the team's biggest weakness after it reared its ugly head again in Week 13.

During his appearance on Sportskeeda's BallFather podcast, Smith shared his concerns about Kansas City's record against the Cincinnati Bengals. He told host Reggie Roberts:

"I thought that the Kansas City Chiefs were going to be the number one team in the NFL. But right now, without a doubt, it's changed. You know, there's a little kryptonite over in the AFC called the Cincinnati Bengals as far as the Kansas City Chiefs are concerned. You know, they've struggled [against the Bengals]. And I'm a little bit worried, you know, if they match up again in the playoffs, no telling what's going to happen because the Bengals have their numbers."

The Kansas City Chiefs seem unable to defeat Joe Burrow's Cincinnati Bengals

The Chiefs and Bengals met in the playoffs earlier this year in the AFC Championship game. Joe Burrow and the Bengals pulled off an upset 27-24 win to head to the Super Bowl. Kansas City had the chance to avenge that loss in Week 13, but Cincinnati came out on top with the same scoreline of 27-24.

Kansas City are 1-7 in their last eight games against the Bengals. Burrow has faced Mahomes thrice in his career and is yet to taste anything other than a win.

The Bengals are 9-4 and are not only in the hunt for a playoff spot but also a division title. Burrow and Mahomes are seemingly on a collision course yet again. If they do end up meeting in the playoffs, the Bengals will undoubtedly have the psychological edge.
