Fantasy Football Start 'Em Sit 'Em 2022 NFL Week 9: Running back rankings

Chicago Bears v Green Bay Packers

Running backs can be one of the most polarizing NFL positions in Fantasy Football. The right players in favorable match-ups are capable of putting together massive fantasy performances, but most are also in danger of busting in the wrong situation. Running backs are often the difference between winning and losing in Fantasy Football.

The options for running backs will be slimmer than ever during Week 9 of the 2022 NFL season as six teams are on a bye week. No other week will have more teams on a bye week this year. This will play a crucial role in determining who to target, while analyzing recent performances and direct weekly matchups.

Week 9 Fantasy Football Running backs: Start 'Em

Raheem Mostert - Miami Dolphins vs. Chicago Bears

Raheem Mostert ranks inside the top 30 running backs in PPR fantasy points during the 2022 season so far. This makes him a borderline RB2 in Fantasy Football with a ton of value in the right matchups.

Week 9 provides one of the more favorable situations for Mostert. The Chicago Bears are currently allowing the fourth-most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs this season.

David Montgomery - Chicago Bears vs. Miami Dolphins

David Montgomery is quietly having a solid 2022 Fantasy Football season. He currently ranks inside the top 20 running backs in fantasy points per game. His consistency has been key, as he has also ranked inside the top 20 in three of his last four games.

The Chicago Bears have committed to the rushing game, including with both of their running backs and quarterback Justin Fields. They should be able to find some success against the Miami Dolphins' bottom-ten fantasy rushing defense.

Tyler Allgeier - Atlanta Falcons vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Tyler Allgeier has been filling in as the starting running back for the Atlanta Falcons as Cordarrelle Patterson recovers from an injury. He has been consistently solid, ranking among the top 25 running backs in three of the last five weeks.

Allgeier is in an excellent position to keep his strong streak of performances going. The Los Angeles Chargers are currently allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to running backs, trailing only the Houston Texans.

Week 9 Fantasy Football Running Backs: Sit 'Em

Darrell Henderson - Los Angeles Rams vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Los Angeles Rams have been unable to find consistent production from their running back position. Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson have each had a shot at the leading role, but neither has helped the Rams improve on one of the worst rushing offenses in the NFL.

While Henderson will likely receive the largest share of the touches out of the backfield in Week 9, he should still be skipped in Fantasy Football. He has finished outside the top 40 PPR running backs in four of the last five weeks and faces the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' top-five fantasy rushing defense this week.

Michael Carter - New York Jets vs. Buffalo Bills

Michael Carter became a popular Fantasy Football target last week. He was promoted to the lead running back after Breece Hall suffered a season-ending injury. Despite the increased role, he finished with just his fourth-most fantasy points of the year.

Week 9 may be challenging for Carter as he faces off against the Buffalo Bills. They rank in the top five in fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs. Carter will also move back into a split role after the New York Jets acquired James Robinson.

Brian Robinson - Washington Commanders vs. Minnesota Vikings

While Brian Robinson is technically the starting running back for the Washington Commanders, he is involved in a time-sharing situation. The Commaders also utilize both of their other running backs as well, including Antonio Gibson and JD McKissic.

Robinson's inability to contribute in the passing game severely limits his upside in Fantasy Football. He has recorded just two total receptions this entire season. He also faces a difficult matchup in Week 9 against the Minnesota Vikings. They rank among the top ten in Fantasy Football points allowed to running backs.
