The waiver wire can be an excellent tool for optimizing your weekly fantasy football lineups. The primary goal is to utilize your bench spots to put your team in the best possible position to maximize each week's point total. With just two teams on bye in Week 7, many of our fantasy players are available, but we can still be proactive and stash players for our future lineup decisions.
At Sportskeeda, we'll review the best options for running back, wide receiver, and tight end positions to assist you with your waiver priority and FAAB allocation for Week 7. We cast a wide net of potential targets as we consider all players under a 70% ownership threshold on popular platforms like ESPN and Yahoo! Sports.

1] Tyrone Tracy Jr., New York Giants
ESPN 45% | Yahoo! 45% | FAAB Range 10-20%
Rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. got an extended audition for lead back duties in New York's offense for the second consecutive week and didn't disappoint. Tracy Jr. won't make any fantasy managers forget former star Saquon Barkley, but the rookie received the most touches (23) by a Giants running back this season and the first touchdown of his brief career in Week 6.
Tracy Jr. broke out for a 129-yard performance after playing a career-high 45 snaps (62%) in Week 5, and the Giants trusted him more this week as he dominated the running back snaps with 66 (84%) against Cincinnati on Sunday Night Football.
Starter Devin Singletary was close to returning from a groin injury that knocked him out of the previous week, and the Giants only ruled out the veteran the day before this contest, meaning he will likely be active this week against Philadelphia. New York's backfield is one to watch this weekend as we'll learn more about how the touches will be divided among these two talented backs.
Will Singletary return to his usual usage, or has Tracy Jr. done enough to carve out a role in this offense? Make sure you make room for Tracy Jr., who has become one of the premier stashes in fantasy football.
2] Tank Bigsby, Jacksonville Jaguars
ESPN 44% | Yahoo! 63% | FAAB Range 10-20%
After setting single-game career highs in touches, snaps, rushing, and receiving yards in Week 5, we speculated there was a status change in Jacksonville's backfield in our weekly waiver wire article. Second-year back Tank Bigsby topped our priority list for available free agents heading into Week 6 as his role in the Jaguars' offense seemed to evolve from handcuff to timeshare.
Even without an injury to starter Travis Etienne, Bigsby quickly approached flex territory with his explosive playmaking ability and usage uptick. If you tucked Bigsby on your roster as we recommended, you should have a lead back in the short-term and a solid RB2 option this week, with Etienne exiting last Sunday's game with a hamstring injury.
Bigsby's box score didn't look great last week, and even third-string back D'Ernest Johnson out-touched him eight to seven. Bigsby only received seven carries and turned those into 24 scoreless yards in the 35-16 loss to a stout Bears defense in London.
However, we're expecting a different kind of gameplan this week, with Bigsby as the primary option against a New England defense that has allowed the seventh-most touches per game to running backs this season (51).
3] Ty Chandler, Minnesota Vikings
ESPN 33% | Yahoo! 27% | FAAB Range 7-15%
Fantasy managers have enjoyed the revival of Minnesota's Aaron Jones this season. However, the Pro Bowl running back left Week 5 with a hip injury that the team deemed a week-to-week variety. With his status murky coming out of its bye week, veteran Ty Chandler could be in line for a primary role in Week 7.
Chandler stepped in for Jones while in London and received 16 touches, including 14 carries for 30 rushing yards and two receptions for nine receiving yards. Pay close attention this week to see if Jones will be out again and have Chandler ready to swap in once we get to Friday's practice reports.
The veteran could be elevated into a flex option in all formats if Jones were to miss any significant time. If Jones is already on your roster and you don't have many alternative options to pivot to, then make sure you get Chandler on your bench this week.
Waiver Wire Week 7 WRs
1] JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kansas City Chiefs
ESPN 18% | Yahoo! 32% | FAAB Range 10-20%
Speaking of revivals, Juju Smith-Schuster has stepped into a great spot with the Kansas City Chiefs offense. Andy Reid brought in veterans to replace his injured stars, including Kareem Hunt and Smith-Schuster. Hunt has filled in for Isiah Pacheco, who expects to return this season, but Smith-Schuster should stick around because Kansas City placed Rashee Hunt on season-ending injured reserve last week.
Smith-Schuster may have flown under the radar mainly because Kansas City was on a bye last week. If he is still on your waiver wire, he will be among the most impactful players available for the rest of this year.
The veteran went from zero fantasy value to the Chiefs' potential top receiving target and WR3/Flex option every week in many fantasy leagues. In his first game with his former team, Smith-Schuster finished with seven receptions for 130 yards on the night.
Just beware you might want to explore other flex options immediately as the Chiefs have a tough matchup with San Francisco in Week 7.
2] Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts
ESPN 49% | Yahoo! 48% | FAAB Range 7-15%
Josh Downs has frequently appeared in our previous receiver matchup articles and waiver wire targets in the last few weeks. Downs was our sixth-highest overall priority the previous week and our No. 2 receiver behind only Darnell Mooney.
In hindsight, we may have been happier with Downs as he had another impressive performance in his fourth game of the season for Indianapolis. Downs turned nine targets into seven receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown. Despite being on a tear since debuting in Week 4, mainly catching passes from veteran backup Joe Flacco, Downs is still available in 50 percent of ESPN and Yahoo! Sports leagues.
Starter Anthony Richardson was a surprise inactive for this contest and should return to the lineup in Week 7 against the Dolphins. Can Downs keep up this pace with a non-traditional dual-threat quarterback like Richardson? We think so.
3] DeMario Douglas, New England Patriots
ESPN 21% | Yahoo! 7% | FAAB Range 5-10%
With all the injuries to fantasy wide receivers, now would be a good time for the Patriots offense to be relevant again. New England handed the keys to the offense last week to rookie Drake Maye, who was taking over for a struggling Jacoby Brissett.
The veteran quarterback was one of the worst starters in fantasy football leading up to his benching before Week 6 action. Maye made his regular season debut last week and had an impressive three-touchdown performance against a decent Houston pass defense.
The primary benefactor from the quarterback change was second-year receiver DeMario Douglas. Douglas turned nine targets for six receptions for 92 yards and a 35-year touchdown in the loss. It was the first touchdown of the career for the former sixth-round pick, while he led the Patriots in targets, receptions, and receiving yards. Maye and Douglas will look to keep its recent connection against a porous Jacksonville pass defense in London to kick off Week 7.
Waiver Wire Week 7 TEs
1] Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears
ESPN 55% | Yahoo! 65% | FAAB Range 5-10%
Our top priority for the tight end position for the second consecutive week will be heading into his bye week. Last week, we recommended Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson, who leads the team in targets after five games of the season. In Parkinson's case, he seems to have gained the trust of veteran Matthew Stafford, and Cole Kmet appears to be in the same situation as the top overall pick, Caleb Williams.
Kmet caught all five of his targets from Williams last week, including a pair of touchdown grabs of 31 and two yards against the Jaguars in London. In typical fantasy leagues, we don't advise having more than one tight end on your roster. Still, if you can afford a spot to stash Kmet, he is enjoying a career year in Chicago with a steadily improving Williams each week.
2] Dalton Schultz, Houston Texans
ESPN 54% | Yahoo! 70% | FAAB Range 4-7%
The Fantasy Gods took Nico Collins away from us last week, and Dalton Schultz could be the primary benefactor for increased usage until the fantasy star is ready to return. Schultz saw a season-high eight targets last week against New England and looks to be a veteran presence for quarterback C.J. Stroud.
Stroud and the Texans will be without Collins for at least another three games as he recovers from a hamstring injury he suffered in Week 5. In the short-term, Schultz should be in play as a streaming option — especially when Houston plays host to a poor pass defense in Indianapolis in Week 8.
