Fantasy Football Week 5 RB advice
Fantasy Football Week 5 RB advice

Using the right running backs in fantasy football lineups can often be the difference between winning and losing. They have always been among the most important players in overall roster construction, so managers should always enter each week with a strategy for approaching them. Here are some of the best ones to target and fade in Week 5 of the 2024 season.

Deciding which running backs to start each week is based on many factors, including their recent individual performances and direct weekly matchups. The best targets have performed strongly leading into their upcoming game and are in a matchup relatively favorable to their overall situation.

Chuba Hubbard is an ideal player to target in Week 5 lineups after finishing as the RB5 and RB7 in the past two weeks. He has exceeded 120 scrimmages and scored a touchdown in both games. He also gets a solid matchup against the Chicago Bears, who are elite in defending the pass but struggle to stop the ground game.

Kenneth Walker III is another excellent running back to target in Week 5 fantasy football lineups. He has missed two games with an injury this year but ranked as the RB2 and RB9 in the two games that he has played. This includes his season-best last week and he will take that momentum into a good matchup against the New York Giants.

Here's who else joins them as Week 5 targets:

Zack Moss is one of the biggest fades in Week 5 fantasy football as his role has decreased with the Cincinnati Bengals. He played in a season-low 60% of the snaps last week and was outperformed by Chase Brown. The Bengals may continue this trend after the previous week's results, making Moss a running back to avoid for now, especially against the Baltimore Ravens' tough rush defense.

Rhamondre Stevenson should also be avoided in most formats this week after finishing outside the top 40 weekly running backs in his past two games. Antonio Gibson has also seen his touches increase recently. So the New England Patriots may be transitioning to more of a backfield timeshare.

Here's who joins them as Week 5 fades:

Must Sits

  • Zack Moss
  • Rhamondre Stevenson
  • Zamir White
  • Ezekiel Elliot
  • Carson Steele

DFS Fades

  • Rhamondre Stevenson
  • De'Von Achane
  • D'Andre Swift
