Injuries are unfortunate but inevitable since the NFL is a contact and physical sport. All NFL followers want the most recent injury news, including fantasy football managers, bettors and team supporters. This is especially true for players occupying skill positions.
We monitor the NFL injuries to selected wide receivers ahead of Week 5.
Week 5 WRs injury report
Rashee Rice's injury update
The injury news about Kansas City Chiefs' Rashee Rice was arguably the biggest in the league last weekend. The wide receiver was carted off the field due to a knee injury in the 17-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4.
Kansas City supporters initially thought Rice had torn his ACL, but further testing didn't confirm that. Chiefs coach Andy Reid announced on Thursday that Rice will undergo further assessments next week.
"We'll get testing done and let you know," Reid said, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The receiver will likely miss at least the next four games, as the team has already placed him on the injured reserve list.
Malik Nabers' injury update
Malik Nabers has been arguably the best player in the New York Giants offense in the first month of his rookie season. He has been recognized for outstanding achievements in the first four games of his professional career.
Nabers will likely miss his first NFL game due to an injury in Week 5. He suffered a concussion late in the second half of last week's game against the Dallas Cowboys and has been DNP in practice this week.
The Giants have their final practice session on Friday before their Sunday game against the Seattle Seahawks. With Nabers out since the last game, it's increasingly unlikely he will suit up this weekend.
Khalil Shakir's injury update
Khalil Shakir is dealing with a knee injury that made him a non-participant in Wednesday and Thursday practice sessions.
Shakir has now missed two consecutive games due to the ankle issue. He's expected to be out for the Buffalo Bills in Week 5 unless he can upgrade his practice participation level on Friday.
The Bills will travel to play the Houston Texans on Sunday. Keon Coleman, Mack Hollins, Curtis Samuel, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling will likely get the workload if Shakir is sidelined for that game.
Tank Dell's injury update
Tank Dell was unavailable for the Texans in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars because of a chest injury in the road loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3.
The wide receiver could return to the field in Week 5 after he returned to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday and Thursday. Although Dell's availability for Week 5 is still unknown, his return to training is encouraging and indicates that he will return soon.
Christian Watson's injury update
Christian Watson suffered an ankle injury in the Green Bay Packers' 31-29 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4. Watson's injury had everyone worried for the worst. But coach Matt LaFleur cleared the air in his postgame news conference that the receiver had only sprained his ankle.
Reports emerged that Watson missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday. He is believed to have had a high-ankle sprain, which normally takes four to six weeks to heal.
Watson is projected to be sidelined for a considerable amount of time and could end up on the injured reserve list. Hopefully, we will learn more about his recovery timetable shortly.
Cooper Kupp's injury update
Cooper Kupp is still recovering from an ankle injury in Week 2. However, he is not expected to return to the field for the Los Angeles Rams in Week 5.
Coach Sean McVay told reporters on Monday the wide receiver will sit out his third consecutive game in Week 5. The Rams will face the Green Bay Packers at SoFi Stadium on Sunday.
Demarcus Robinson, Jordan Whittington, and Tutu Atwell are the Rams' main wide receiver options in Kupp's absence.
