Starting the right running backs in fantasy football each week can often be the difference between winning and losing a matchup. Running backs are consistently among the most crucial positions, so managers must have a strategy before finalizing their lineups. Here are the best ones to target and avoid in Week 6.

Tony Pollard is among the best running backs to target for Week 6 fantasy football lineups. He has been the leading running back for the Tennessee Titans this year, exceeding 60% of the offensive snaps in all of his games and receiving at least 20 touches in three of his four contests. The Indianapolis Colts have allowed the second-most rushing yards per game, so he also has an excellent matchup.

Pollard is joined by Tank Bigsby, who had a massive breakout game for the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. He ranked as the weekly RB1 in fantasy football with 129 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns. He also set a season-high by playing in 40% of the offensive snaps, so he appears to be moving into a timeshare with Travis Etienne, who has struggled at times this year.

Jerome Ford continues to serve as the starting running back for the Cleveland Browns, but he has severely struggled this season. He has failed to exceed ten carries in a game since Week 1 and he has yet to eclipse 65 rushing yards in a single game. This makes him a clear fade in fantasy football, despite a relatively favorable matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Rico Dowdle has been trending up as the Dallas Cowboys' featured running back, including ranking among the top 20 players in his position in each of the past two weeks. He should still be avoided in a brutal Week 6 matchup against the Detroit Lions, who currently have the best overall rushing defense in the entire NFL.

Here's who joins them as Week 6 fades:

Must Sits

  • Jerome Ford
  • Rico Dowdle
  • Austin Ekeler
  • Rachaad White
  • Alexander Mattison

DFS Fades

  • Najee Harris
  • JK Dobbins
  • Travis Etienne Jr.
