‘Get on that right now’ – Dolphins urged to send Lamar Jackson contract offer with Ravens stalling

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson still hasn't gotten the eye-popping mega extension that he's seeking this off-season. After playing five seasons with the Ravens, his rookie contract is up and he’s looking to become one of the highest-paid quarterbacks and players in the NFL.

While he and the Ravens are still in contract talks, Bomani Jones is urging the Miami Dolphins to trade for him.

Jones Tweeted:

"I'm watching get up and the question is whether the dolphins should try to acquire lamar jackson and whew they need to get on that right now. RIGHT NOW."

If the Ravens make Jackson available, many teams will be interested in acquiring him via trade. The Dolphins may want to upgrade to the quarterback position, as Tua Tagovailoa suffered multiple injuries last season, including a few concussions.

Adding Jackson to the Miami offense with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle would make them one of the fastest and most explosive offenses in the NFL.

Jackson reportedly turned down a deal from the Ravens that included $133 million in guaranteed money. There have been rumors that state he wants Deshaun Watson-type of money or more for his new deal.

In the last off-season, the Cleveland Browns made Deshaun Watson the highest paid player in the NFL. He signed a five-year contract worth $230 million which was fully guaranteed.

While it wasn't the first guaranteed contract in NFL history, it was the highest-paid one and now quarterbacks like Jackson are seeking similar money.

Is Lamar Jackson worth the same amount/more money than Deshaun Watson's contract?

The Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson are going to have to meet in the middle to agree on a certain contract number.

Lamar Jackson has every right to seek a contract like Watson. Unlike Watson, he has no red flags off the field and has been a more successful quarterback. The player won the unanimous MVP in 2019, and has led the Ravens to four post-season appearances in his career.

At the same time, he hasn't been available to the team towards the end of the season for the last two years as he's suffered injuries. He led the team to a 8-4 record this past season but was shut down due to a knee injury and wasn't present for the playoffs.

There's a lot of time to agree on a long-term deal, but a trade isn't out of the picture if the two sides can't agree on a deal.
