The Green Bay Packers are in the midst of a change while waiting on the anticipated trade of franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

They are not expected to make big moves in free agency due to salary cap challenges, but are looking to retain some of their key players while adding a few newcomers at the right price.

Expect the franchise to look to maximize the trade compensation for Rodgers and look to build Jordan Love's future team around rookie talent.

Here's a breakdown of the Packers' 2023 NFL free agent signings and their potential impact on the upcoming season.

Tarvarius Moore (S) joins after spending his first four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.While he has not had much playing time on defense, he has played extensively on special teams. However, with just one career interception and the franchise likely not re-signing Adrian Amos, they may still need a starting-caliber safety. Injury is a risk here, as he missed the entire 2021 season due to a torn Achilles.

Keisean Nixon agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $6 million. He led the NFL in kickoff returns of 50-plus yards and had a 105-yard touchdown return last season. Nixon also has the potential to be a rotational player among cornerbacks. The risk was not bringing him back and dealing with another Amari Rodgers situation, but it's only a one-year deal so they're not bound to him for multiple years.

Green Bay are bringing back Tyler Davis (TE), a restricted free agent. While he has potential, he has had minimal production over the past two seasons. The franchise still has significant work to do in this position, with Marcedes Lewis an unsigned free agent and Robert Tonyan at the Chicago Bears.

Matt Orzech (LS) agreed to join after spending the previous two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. As a rookie last season, Jack Coco was serviceable but inconsistent, and Green Bay tried to get Orzech once before. The Packers keep changing specialists and fail to develop continuity, especially if they don't re-sign franchise scoring leader Mason Crosby.

Until Rodgers' trade is complete, the most important loss is receiver Allen Lazard who has joined the New York Jets. Other long-time Packers Marcedes Lewis, Randell Cobb, Mason Crosby, and Adrian Amos are currently unsigned and look to be leaving. Tight end Robert Tonyan has also left to division rivals the Chicago Bears.
