Te Jacksonville Jaguars could be without quarterback Trevor Lawrence in their Week 10 game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Jaguars coach Doug Pederson told reporters Wednesday morning that Lawrence is dealing with upper body soreness after Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
ESPN reporter Adam Schefted Tweeted:
"With Trevor Lawrence admitting he was beat up and sore after Sunday’s loss to the Eagles, the Jaguars signed QB C.J. Beathard off Miami’s practice squad and on to their roster. Now the question will be how much Lawrence does or doesn’t practice ahead of Sunday’s game vs. the Vikings."
The Jaguars are four days away from their Sunday game against the Minnesota Vikings. They will host the Vikings at 1:00 p.m.
With Lawrence dealing with the injury Schefter mentioned, it will be interesting to see how much he practices this week, if he at all does so.
Upon learning about Lawrence's upper body soreness, fans were quick to criticize the Jaguars quarterback on social media. Some fans labeled Lawrence, "trash," "cooked," and "soft," among other things.
Here's how fans reacted:
"Don’t admit that Lawrence. You don’t wanna turn to a backup," a fan wrote.
"Lawrence is cooked," a fan said.
"Lawrence is trash," a fan wrote.
While some fans criticized Trevor Lawrence and questioned his toughness, other fans think that if he is playing through pain it's in the Jaguars' best interest to bench him.
Some fans think at 2-7 the Jaguars will have a top pick in next year's draft and might as well start to tank for next season.
Here's how other fans reacted:
"No need to risk injury let the tank begin," a fan wrote.
"Sit him down, we are not winning. Start firing people," a fan said.
"I rather they sit him instead of making him play through injury like last year. Season already over," a fan replied.
With Trevor Lawrence's status uncertain for Sunday, the Jaguars have signed C.J. Beathard
C.J. Beathard is back in Jacksonville! After starting his career with the San Francisco 49ers and being there for four seasons, Beathard signed with the Jaguars in the 2021 season and was with them for three seasons.
Beathard was released by the Jaguars this off-season. He was recently picked up by the Miami Dolphins. He was signed on Oct. 22 with the team having multiple quarterbacks injured.
As he was signed to the Jaguars' active roster today, Beathard has a chance to be Mac Jones' backup quarterback if Trevor Lawrence is inactive.
In his career, Beathard has appeared in 32 games and has completed 60.4 percent of passes and has thrown for 3,886 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
