Among the most thrilling wideouts in the NFL right now is DK Metcalf. He played football for three years at the University of Mississippi before opting for the 2019 NFL Draft when the Seattle Seahawks selected him in the second round.

A video of DK Metcalf's incredible vertical jump recently went viral on Twitter. The 25-year-old is seen in the video, which has garnered over a million views, leaping absurdly up in the air to grab the ball. The fact that the video is likely fabricated doesn't change the reality that Metcalf is a top athlete. Metcalf is renowned for his agility and quickness.

D.K. Metcalf was a largely unexplored player outside of Oxford, Mississippi, and the NFL scouting class when he declared for the 2019 NFL Draft following his redshirt-sophomore season at Ole Miss.

The receiver's vertical jump at the 2019 NFL Draft combine was 40.5 inches. Of all the receivers at the 2019 NFL Combine, that one placed third.

Only two receivers, Miles Boykin of Notre Dame and Emanuel Hall of Missouri, performed better in the drill, both with 43.5-inch leaps. Metcalf's vertical jump would have been the highest in the class if he had performed it at the 2018 NFL Combine.

Which player has recorded the highest vertical jump at the NFL Combine?

Gerald Sensabaugh of North Carolina completed the best vertical leap performance in the history of the NFL Scouting Combine in 2005. He broke the old record by half an inch by leaping 46 inches. The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Sensabaugh 157th overall in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Before being acquired by the Dallas Cowboys in 2009, Sensabaugh played for the Jaguars for four years. Before retiring in 2013, he played four more NFL years with the Dallas Cowboys.

DK Metcalf’s NFL timeline

DK Metcalf was raised in Oxford, Mississippi, where he attended Oxford High School and the University of Mississippi. While starring for Ole Miss, he totaled 14 TDs in 21 games.

The Seattle Seahawks selected him with the 64th overall pick (second round) in the 2019 NFL Draft after he starred for Ole Miss for three seasons and declared for the draft. Metcalf was picked ninth out of the 28 wide receivers selected in the draft.

Metcalf and the Seahawks came to an agreement on a three-year, $72 million extension in July 2022. Of that amount, $58.2 million was guaranteed, and $30 million was a signing bonus.
