How long is Russell Wilson out for? Week 15 fantasy outlook and return status explored for Broncos QB

Quarterback Russell Wilson of the Denver Broncos runs off the field

Russell Wilson, the quarterback for the Denver Broncos, missed part of Sunday's defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14. The 34-year-old fell on his head after a fourth-quarter scuffle, which was made worse by a few Chiefs players tumbling atop him.

Wilson tried to stand up again and appeared visibly agitated before being seen with a bump on his head as he made his way to the medical tent for a head assessment.

Wilson's availability for Week 15 is currently very uncertain due to head injuries usually keeping a player out for over a week.

On Wednesday, Wilson participated in the team's stretching and did some gentle tossing.

Nathaniel Hackett stated that the medical crew's judgment would be the first factor in determining whether Wilson would be eligible to play on Sunday.

By the end of the day, Russell Wilson had thrown for a respectable 247 yards and three TD passes. The Broncos may play it cautiously and hold him out until Week 16, if not longer, given their dismal 3-10 record.

Players who do not return to full practice in some capacity by Wednesday typically don't play the following week because of how the concussion protocol works.

Who will take Russell Wilson's place if he doesn't recover in time for Week 15?

Brett Rypien replaced Russell Wilson after the latter departed the game. Rypien will be difficult to trust this week, even in Superflex setups, with no teams on a bye.

After a poor start, Wilson found his footing against Kansas City in Week 14. The veteran quarterback had one of his best performances of a forgettable season before he left. He completed 23 of 36 throws for 247 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Additionally, he rushed four times for a season-high 57 yards.

There is no need to force Wilson to return before he is fully fit as the Broncos and Wilson have already been eliminated from the postseason.

Through Saturday, there will be NFL injury reports and updates on his condition. However, due to the concussion protocol's nature, it is difficult to predict his state.
