How many concussions has Tua Tagovailoa had in his NFL career?

Tagovailoa's concussion issues have again come to ahead

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has dealt with his fair share of injuries throughout his short career, but this season, those injuries are far more serious.

When talking about concussions and the NFL, many get skittish as we know the long-term ramifications of multiple knocks to the head. Well for Tagovailoa, those head knocks have come thick and fast during the 2022 season and to our knowledge, he has suffered three concussions this year.

What are the current Super Bowl odds?

The first was against the Buffalo Bills, and although Miami said it was a "back issue," most knew he had a concussion. The wobbly legs after his head hit the ground is a tell-tale sign. That's one.

The next one happened against the Cincinnati Bengals just a week later. Given the serious nature of head hits, the quarterback should have missed multiple weeks after the Buffalo game.

Against the Bengals, he was knocked out cold -- a truly horrific sight. That's two. The incident forced him to miss two weeks (rightly so), leading us to the one this past weekend.

Against the Packers, Tagovailoa was tackled in the second quarter and his head hit the ground once again. But the interesting thing about this one is that he showed no signs of concussion and no medical personnel did either.

It wasn't until midweek that he reported symptoms and entered concussion protocols. That's three.

Such is the quarterback's precarious position that some are calling for Miami to shut him down for the rest of the season. Others, including Undisputed's Skip Bayless, are now calling for Tagovailoa to retire from football to preserve his long-term health.

Keep in mind that the quarterback is only 24 years old and has his whole life ahead of him, and football is only a game. It is not worth sacrificing your body and mind for.

Within his own best interest, Miami needs to shut him down for the rest of the season and get a proper evaluation in the offseason. If that means ending his career at just 24 years old, then that is what has to happen.

As the old saying goes, sometimes players need protection from themselves and right now, the young signal-caller needs his organization to save him.
