How does NFL Combine measure hand size? All you need to know about hand sizes for NFL Combine 2024

The NFL Combine will showcase a number of top talents from across the country. The week-long event in 2023 will commence on Monday, Feb. 27, at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Hand measurements are an area of interest at the event, especially for quarterbacks, tight ends and receivers. The bigger the size of the hand, the better grip the player can have on the ball.

While getting the hand measurements of every player may seem like a complicated task, it's quite simple when put into practice.

The NFL measures the hands of players by taking a tape measure from the tip of the thumb to the little finger with the hand outstretched. Reports claim that the average hand size for men is 8.5 inches.

Quarterbacks at the combine generally seem to have hands that measure over nine inches. However, that is not always the case.

In 2020, quarterback Joe Burrow joked that he considered retirement after learning that his hand measurements were among the smallest at the combine. He was later picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals and has been the star man for the team ever since.
