The Green Bay Packers snapped their five-game losing streak on Sunday when they beat the Dallas Cowboys 31-28 in overtime. It was a massive win for the NFC giants, who kept their playoff hopes alive.
The Packers are currently 4-6. However, prior to their Week 10 triumph, their overall Defense-adjusted Value Over Average (DVOA) was ranked an underwhelming 18th in the league with 1.3%.
Nonetheless, the Packers' defense played its best game of the season against the Cowboys.
How did the Green Bay Packers tweak their defense for Week 10?
The Packers were without Eric Stokes, De’Vondre Campbell, and Rashan Gary for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. However, Green Bay defensive coordinator Joe Barry made the most of what he had at his disposal.
Instead of fielding Darnell Savage in the safety position, Barry altered Savage to the nickel corner spot. He also elevated Rudy Ford to the starting free safety position and Ford grabbed two key interceptions during the game.
The Packers' defense tried their best to keep CeeDee Lamb quiet in Week 10 but the Cowboys receiver still put up 150 yards and two touchdowns through the air. However, the remainder of the Dallas offense was thwarted well by Rasul Douglas and Jaire Alexander.
With the performance they put up, it will be interesting to see how Joe Barry implements what he's learned from Week 10 to produce defensive success for the rest of the season.
