Earlier this week, Jadeveon Clowney publicly slammed the Cleveland Browns' coaching staff. The defensive end was then sent home before practice on Friday, confirming that his season was over.

The 29-year-old won't play in Cleveland's season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 18. But will Clowney return to play for the Browns next season? By the player's admission, it doesn't seem likely.

While speaking to Cleveland.com on Thursday, Clowney stated that there is a very slim chance that he will return to the team for the 2023-23 NFL season. He said:

“Ninety-five percent sure I won’t be back. But there’s still that 5 percent. You never know what can happen.”

Clowney was signed by the Browns on a one-year, $8 million extension. However, the Browns have failed to qualify for the playoffs and will end their campaign with a trip to the Steelers.

This has led to plenty of speculation on whether he will play for Cleveland next season. Clowney also admitted that he wanted to play for a franchise that would value him more.

One of the main reasons for his unhappiness with the team is that Clowney felt the Browns removed him from favorable matchups at various points throughout the campaign. He believes that the AFC North outfit did so to focus the limelight on Myles Garrett.

Jadeveon Clowney hasn't had the best of seasons in the NFL this campaign. He managed a rather underwhelming 28 tackles and two sacks, with four quarterback hits across 12 games. He missed four games due to injury as well.

However, Clowney is a three-time Pro Bowler and has proven himself in the league. He is bound to get a few offers from other teams in the NFL if he doesn't return to Cleveland.
